Mellow Hound

I would highly recommend Mellow Hound for any training needs. Sam is professional, supportive, honest and really intuitive with the dogs in training. She has a great training area and really tailors each program for the dog’s specific needs. I really loved the after training write ups that highlighted areas that went well or needed more attention. If you are getting a puppy, rescue dog or need to do retraining get started with her to build a strong foundation.

Sam is a wealth of experience and knowledge and is very friendly and easy to work with. From working with her, my 10 month old lab puppy has excellent recall skills and is getting very good at loose leash walking. Anyone looking to both train and engage with their dog will definitely benefit from working with her. I personally look forward to continuing to work with Sam as my pup continues to grow!

We highly recommend Sam Henderson for dog training. She is an amazing trainer for step-by-step learning with our four month old puppy. She uses easy game-like tasks and positive reinforcement to engage our pup. She summarizes each session in an e-mail to help us recall our practice training between each session. I received Sam’s information from two highly respected dog rescue organizations. WAG and the Rise Rescue Alliance. Both organizations receive many dog surrenders due to behavior. Sam from Mellow Hounds was the top recommendations for both! Liam is my sweet, hyperactive, and reactionary dog. Evidently, he sees the garbage man as stealing our garbage and lunged and knocked me down, hitting face first on the pavement. He’s also very reactionary to other dogs and the situation was only getting worse. I called Sam and she was responsive and gave me hope. We started to work together right away after we aligned the exact behaviors we needed to collaborate on. I was surprised because the training came in game forms and was fun for both Liam and myself. And it worked! I respect and have found Liam‘s threshold and know how to handle challenging situations. We practiced in real life and the positive focus was not punitive but instead gave us tools to decompress. With five weeks of weekly sessions, homework, and email follow up, we are both doing great together with even stronger bonding. My beloved dog a good citizen around others, but I have tools to improve other skills. I’d like to work on. I was embarrassed when I came to Sam because I love my dog, but my best efforts hadn’t paid off. There was no shame, just support, and she gently made suggestions for support. Sam is someone special and I’m so glad that she is a resource in our area. Highly recommend!
