Mavis K9 Academy

Our morkie was showing signs of aggression and was being reactive, so after asking around and reading good reviews on FB, we decided to do the 2-week board and train with Mavis. I wasn't expecting a lot after "only" two weeks but was willing to try it based on the good reviews, and I'm happy to say I was not disappointed. Greg's customer service was great and he provided frequent updates. I could also tell in the videos we received that our morkie was happy and calm, even around German sheps and dobermans. She normally hates big dogs and now she doesn't mind them. Having her in a controlled environment around big dogs by itself was priceless due to her past anxiety. She also barely barks now and she is receptive to commands (and she is naturally stubborn). Greg's after-boarding tips/instructions are easy to follow, and I can tell they're working. I can drop her leash and she will follow me without issue. She also sits down where I tell her to and stays until I release her, which alleviates safety concerns I had. I highly recommend Mavis. I recommend them so much we are already making plans to have him train our other pup in a few months after she's been spayed. Thank you Greg and Mavis staff!

We have used Mavis K9 Academy on numerous occasions with two dogs. We have purchased a training package, we have done two weeks of board and train, and we have also just boarded when we were on vacation. I always know that my dog is in good hands there and I never worry. Greg provides consistent communication with videos while we are gone. Our dog came back remarkably better behaved after board and train. We will continue to use his services in the future. Highly recommend!

We had an absolutely phenomenal experience with Greg at Mavis K9 Academy. From start to finish, his communication was timely, clear, and reassuring. We originally reached out to Greg a year ago for help with our aggressive pittie, Tucker. At the time, we had a great conversation, but I wasn’t ready to fully face our dog’s behavioral challenges. Everyday life was difficult—vet visits were stressful, public outings were almost impossible, and having Tucker around people was unpredictable. A year later, we realized we had no choice but to address it head-on, so we reached back out to Greg. Once we got Tucker’s vaccinations taken care of, we were ready to begin. Before his board and train, we scheduled an evaluation. That first session was intense—Tucker was worked up and very stressed. But even in that short time, Greg’s expertise shone through. By the end, Tucker was calmly taking treats directly from Greg’s hand! We scheduled a few additional sessions leading up to the board and train, and with each one, we could see a genuine bond forming between them. When it was finally time for the board and train, Tucker walked right into the building without hesitation. What followed over the next two weeks was nothing short of amazing. The transformation in Tucker was beyond anything we could have hoped for. Greg genuinely cares about the dogs he works with and is deeply invested in their success. You can feel it through every video update, message, and training note he shares along the way. Greg’s communication throughout the entire board and train was excellent. Not only does he work with your dog, but he also ensures you are prepared to continue the training. He’s a hands-on teacher who truly wants both you and your dog to succeed. When we picked up Tucker, we saw the progress instantly—he was responding to commands like heel, sit, and place with confidence. But the most incredible moment of all? Watching our once-anxious pup walk calmly past customers and workers in a public space. Greg sent us home with everything we needed: a personalized training binder, treats, toys, and a clear plan to continue the progress. If you’re on the fence about enrolling in the board and train program at Mavis Academy—do it. Trust Greg, trust the process, and get out of your own way. We are forever grateful for Greg and the doors he has opened for Tucker. We can’t wait to see what’s next!
