First, we will identify the root cause of the barking. It is not always what you might perceive it to be. For example, a dog might bark any time a guest enters your home. This does not mean that the dog is aggressive, or that the dog doesn't like people. This may actually stem from a lack of confidence and the need for clear boundaries. Barking is more than a physical reaction- together, we will discover the mental/emotional process behind the barking, and address the root cause head-on.

A dog that feels rewarded for a certain behavior will continue that behavior. In most instances, a dog that jumps is a dog that has been ''rewarded'' for doing it too many times to know that it is not something you want. Rewards can include the way that you excitedly speak to the dog or pet the dog during the behavior. If the dog is only rewarded with affection and attention once they have settled, they will learn to settle. I can help you initiate this change. It involves clear boundaries with house guests- if someone comes in your home and your dog tries to jump up and greet them, the person needs to ignore the dog until it calms back down. Petting or speaking sweetly to the dog will reinforce to them that the person is happy they are being jumped on. It takes self control around cute puppies !

Separation Anxiety will manifest itself when your dog is left alone. Typical signs are excessive barking, destructive behaviors, and signs of distress like hyperventilation. Your dog should be confident and content enough that you can leave them/leave the house for hours in a day without worry. They should be able to relax without depending on your presence in order to do so. Depending on the severity of the Separation Anxiety, working through this can be a process, but is a highly beneficial one. The results will impact your happiness and your dogs happiness for the rest of your life together.

Why is my dog so hyper, and how do I calm them down ?
Owners often confuse a lack of mental stimulation and the inability to ''self-settle'' with a dog that is hyper-active or overly excitable. The desired result can be achieved by teaching your dog to rest, and by ensuring that they receive both mental and physical energy outlets throughout the day. I teach these things regularly.

We brought our 5-month-old Boxer, Donkey, to Maui Dog Whisperer because his idea of “meeting new people” is launching himself at them like a furry torpedo.
After just ONE session, we were absolutely blown away. We have never, in Donkey’s entire chaotic little life, seen him behave around a complete stranger that fast. We honestly kept waiting for the body slam… and it never came.
Thank you for introducing us to so many practical tools and helping us understand how his little Boxer brain works. For the first time, we can actually picture a future where Donkey greets people with four paws on the ground instead of treating every introduction like he’s auditioning for the WWE.
More than anything, you’ve given us hope—and that’s priceless. We can’t wait to keep training and watching our tiny chaos goblin grow into a well-mannered gentleman (or at least a gentleman most of the time). We can’t recommend Maui Dog Whisperer enough!

He absolutely loves people and little kids and does great around anyone that he meets or passes while we’re on our walks. But when it comes to other dogs He immediately becomes defensive which is not good.
Brock retrained not only him but me too. So now I act like everything is OK and stay calm so he does too. Titus realizes there’s no problem and actually enjoy his adventures.

Brock was amazing with my dog Sunny. From the moment he arrived, Sunny mellowed out simple around his calm energy. It is clear that he has a special relationship with dogs and trains from the perspective of working in flow with their nature rather than training over it. I felt incredibly encouraged after our session and have implemented many of his techniques for leash reactivity, recall, and crate training with much success. I will be using Brock in the future. Highly recommend.
