Lucky Mutt Dog Training

I had reached out to Lucky Mutt to make sure we had a trainer who could help us train the deaf dog we were planning on adopting. Their deaf dog academy training videos were amazing, and we had also planned on doing one on one training. We had the unfortunate circumstance that the dog we had adopted started showing aggressive behavior towards people within the first 2 weeks we had him home. Ben came to do the assessment and was incredibly kind and helpful, but mainly was honest about how ultimately it's always best to weigh the worth of working with a dog who may always be aggressive towards people, even with training. It was a hard decision to surrender the doggo back to the rescue, but Ben was super knowledgeable, and made us feel better about having to make tough decisions like that. When we get to try again for another dog we definitely plan on working with them.

THIS IS NOT A DOG TRAINER. I want that to be crystal clear. Decent boarding facility, but it's false advertising that they train dogs. I wasted over $6k for my two dogs to learn absolutely nothing. I think they just need to be honest with themselves and the consumer. The dogs are not verbal commands. The "trainers" do not provide assessments or any data. Our dogs were taught how to lay on a bed if they want treats. We paid for two dogs, only received one bed. This place is a joke. Now, we need to spend several thousand dollars to get our dogs trained to the basics as we have a baby on the way. Told them about this and rather than offer any refund they offered to take them for another two weeks. IF YOU WANT TRAINING, GO ELSEWHERE.

Our puppy Sona did a board and train stay (as well as several board and train stays while we were on vacation) with Ben and Anna last year and continues to go to Lucky Mutt for boarding stays this year. We saw continued improvement in trained behaviors with every stay at Lucky Mutt. One important thing to know is that its essential that owners keep working with their pups at home and reinforce the training. Dogs will not magically come back fully trained, but we saw significant incremental improvement with every training stay and Ben always communicated what we could work on at home. Another plus--they take care of all the transportation. In addition, Sona absolutely LOVES Ben and Anna and goes bonkers everytime she sees them. This is a great indicator that our pups get so much love when they are away from home!
