LECA

This place is a hidden gem. Not all dogs are made for the commerical doggy daycares and boarding places. After adopting a shelter pup, I just couldn't send her back to "jail". Also, we were under the impression from the shelter that she didn't get along with other dogs. I spent months looking for a place where we could safely socialize our dog and also a boarding place that would return my calls when I shared her breed and large size. Suddenly they weren't taking new clients or they were already fully booked. It was exhausting. I even tried the Rover app and the well reputed local in-home boarding place. No luck. LECA is nothing short of phenomenal. Especially if you have a high energy dog who needs actual training from adults that are knowledgeable. The owner is very serious about his business and it shows. The space is in an industrial park. He built it out to be a dog paradise. There is a large agility room, smaller play rooms, and a really nice boarding area. The staff seems to be professionally trained with how to handle dogs. This was not the case at camp bowow and other places I looked into that seemed to hire teenagers. We were able to drop our dog off for "school" for five half days in the two weeks leading up to our vacation. Our dog was so excited to visit! She squeaked in the parking lot. They sent photos daily. I am beyond relieved that our dog isn't rotting in a cage while we are on vacation. I have the peace of mind knowing that she is also having a wonderful time with people who appreciate her. She is getting the socialization that we know she needs, "school" to better develop her commands and discipline, and a truly regimented schedule. Visit LECA, stop in and speak with the owner. This type of place is hard to come by and greatly needed by the big dog parents of North Jersey. Thank you again for taking good care of us!

An honest review from Odin (a dog): I LOVE it at LECA! I was a hot mess before going there—all over the place on a leash, barely knew any commands, and, being in a new city, didn’t have any friends. Now? I’m told I’m a good boy (most of the time), I made fun friends, and my humans say that LECA helped them avoid couples’ therapy. So it’s a win all around. Oh, and the best part about LECA? Grandpa Max always has something yummy in his pockets!

Our pup was a street stray from Puerto Rico who was very nervous around people and very shy in general. We started bringing her to LECA to help build her confidence. It worked beautifully--and as a bonus, she learned a lot of basic obedience (as did we, in one of the training classes). We now send her because she loves it so much. She adores the trainers and staff and is always so happy to come through the door in the morning. She has a great time playing with her dog friends and is just really blossoming. On the days we don't take her to LECA, she complains about it at home.
