do you have any recomendations for trainers who can help w bigger dogs from the shelter? trying to get them leash trained and basic manners so they can get adopted. some of them have been there too long! Please if you know of any
Hello, thank you for the message. We train all sizes. At this time we don’t have the personnel to train pro bono to help dogs get adopted. With that said we donate and support the Delaware Humane Society on a monthly basis. It is a goal of our company to help train dogs in the shelters to help get adopted but we are just not there yet. Recently a german shepard was added to our home. She is 4 years old and great with people. She has attacked one of our other dogs unprovoked 3 times. Will Training get her to stop? The other dog is much smaller and I don't want her hurt.

We have worked with Lead the Way K9 for the 2 week board and train for both of our dogs, as well as boarding when we are out of town. We appreciate getting updates on our dogs and the team is great about communicating any concerns (one of our dogs deals with allergies and ear infections). We love that daycare is included with boarding - our dogs have a great time!

We (and more importantly, our dog CJ) LOVED Lead the Way K9 Training and Boarding! The facility is amazing—clean, spacious, and clearly designed with dogs in mind. Inside, everything is spotless and cozy, and outside there’s plenty of room for pups to run, play, and live their best lives. CJ came home happy, relaxed, and just a little smug—as if to say, “Finally, people who get me.” The staff here are absolute gems. They do an exceptional job caring for each dog, with genuine warmth and attention to detail. They were thoughtful about CJ’s feeding preferences and happily accommodated a few of our more “particular” requests (yes, CJ likes her bedtime treat served with a side of praise :-). One of the things we loved most was how regularly they sent updates with photos of CJ during her stay. It was so reassuring—and honestly heartwarming—to see her playing, relaxing, and clearly having a blast while we were away. They also frequently update their social media with pictures and fun news about the pets in their care, so even when we weren’t getting direct messages, we could still spot CJ living her best vacation life. In essence, both CJ and we felt completely at ease. It’s clear this isn’t just a job for them—it’s a passion. And judging by how CJ practically forgot we existed (!) when we picked her up, we’d say she agrees.
I couldn’t be happier with Lead the Way! Finnegan goes for grooming and daycare and was also trained using the E-Collar. I have seen such a positive change in his behavior. The staff is friendly, professional, and truly cares about the dogs. Finnegan gets excited every time we pull in and always comes home tired and happy. Highly recommend!
Lead the Way always takes great care of our dog. It is the only place we board, they are very nice and treat our dog like their own.
