L A School For Dogs - Best Dog School in California

Jennifer and her staff provide a safe and secure place for your dog. Molly was disobedient, fearful and she would bark at anyone or anything she was unfamiliar with. Within the first week we noticed a change in her behavior. Each week we were also trained how to handle her at home and in the public and provided reading materials and videos to continue her training. Our family is delighted with the changes. As a bonus we have been offered follow up assistance.

My partner and I saw a LA School for Dogs employee training a dog at a nearby Coffee Bean in Westlake. The employee was calm and patient but firm - something we admired. We instantly thought of our year and a half old Sharpei/Shepherd mix named Dune. Despite having a personal trainer earlier in his life, he still continued to be a very anxious, scared, and stubborn pup. Right from our initial consultation, we could tell Jennifer knew exactly what she was doing. Not only that, she seemed to understand Dune deeper than we did at that point in his life. She was very honest with us when she informed us that we would never be able to change some of his nervousness because it was engrained in his personality but that she would do everything she could to achieve some better behavior from him as long as we were willing to be fully participatory. Other than a few scheduling hiccups because of my line of work, everything was smooth. The 1 on 1 parental lessons at the end of every week were very helpful in learning how to handle Dune properly and keep him accountable for his actions. Not only was Dune learning and getting more comfortable in his routine, we were learning how to be confident and firm with him when he wanted to be stubborn. We saw progress in Dune even within the first few days. At the end of the three week program, there was a night and day difference in him that we never thought would be possible. Jennifer told us on multiple occasions that he was one of the most difficult dogs she had ever trained and that we were doing so well by him by teaching him obedience. It was truly emotional to witness. Before LASFD, Dune would pull (even on a prong collar) and "turbo boost" in all directions. My partner could not control him. While he was great with dogs and people, he would never listen to us on walks, he would never stay and be calm, and he could never sit and focus for more than a couple seconds. Now, our babe can heel walk, auto sit when we stop walking, watch us and focus for long periods, sit-stay, down-stay, go to place and stay, and much more! We love LASFD and are so thankful for all of their patience in dealing with Dune. We want to personally thank Jennifer for understanding us and Dune and being willing to work with us, answer questions, and spend time whenever we needed it. Investing in the time, money and energy of taking our dog Bodhi to L.A. School for Dogs was the absolute best decision we made. The whole process and experience exceeded our expectations and not to mention our dog is the very best version of himself, something we could not do on our own. We have a 10 month old chocolate Labrador named Bodhi. We also are expecting our first baby in a few months and have a 5 year old stepson. Having a puppy has been fun but soon turned to be very challenging as he continued to grow in size and weight. Bodh didn't know his own strength and would jump on us and other people, knocking people over especially elderly and kids. He also became a food counter surfing junkie. We could not let our food out of sight for a second or he would take it. Bodhi also started doing resource guarding with his food dish, after eating he would growl and bite at me and my husband. When we went for walks he would drag us down the street. So our sweet cute puppy turned into a very difficult situation and we knew we had to make a change. We had tried reading books and watching some YouTube videos' on our own but it wasn't enough. I did a search for dog schools and found L.A. School for dogs and really loved the format of their programs. Jennifer the owner called me back and learned about what we were dealing with Bodhi and helped us set up a consultation to talk more about what options we may have. We found that the three week program of dropping Bodhi off from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday - Thursday was the best option, we didn't have the time and energy to give Bodhi the kind of support he needed to understand the best way to be. After the consultation meeting with Jennifer we walked away with things to already start trying and working on before school would start and right away we saw a change. After each day of dog school Bodhi was changing. It was so helpful to get the weekly hour-long lesson with Bodhi and the trainers to learn what they were teaching him and then have a plan to go home and practice. We knew we also had to commit to take time to do two 30-minute walks and practice what Bodhi was learning and it truly made a difference. Bodhi even got to go on a field trip to a public place and learn the best manners. We also got to practice this experience with him. We are so happy and grateful to have invested the time, money and resources in this program. We now know how to connect with Bodhi and he now understands us and healthy boundaries and he is such a joy to be around at home and out on walks and in public places. If you are at all thinking about doing this program, I highly recommend it, it's an investment that will pay you back a thousand times over throughout the years with your pup!
