I can highly recommend KingK9 after leaving my 15 month old labradoodle with Joshua for the 3 week board and train program. There was, and still is, easy and open communication, I always felt I could ask as many questions as I needed to. The environment was wholesome and country, Joshua was caring and understood what my pup and I needed. I now feel in control of my dog when he is out in the open , and I can tell others how to interact with him. Even his eating behaviors and habits have improved. My dog is happier knowing what to expect, and what is no longer acceptable. Thank you!

Joshua is so gentle and kind. My dog Chewie always arrived at his training sessions with a wagging tail. I was skeptical at first of training using a prong collar and e-collar, but I quickly realized that these methods were actually kinder than the tugging and pulling that I used to use on Chewie to get him to go the way I wanted, not pull, not lunge, etc. This training has bonded me to my dog in a way that nothing else has. I don't get angry or frustrated with him anymore and because we've firmly established that I'm in charge and will take care of things, he no longer seems anxious and flinchy. He used to bark and lunge at people, other dogs and even cars. Now he seems much more relaxed and happy.

My experience with Joshua at King K9 Academy has been remarkable dollar for dollar the best investment I have ever made. I traveled from Upstate New York to King K9 Academy (Richmond Maine) with my 4-month-old Lab/Pitt/boxer mix puppy Echo. Echo was adopted from a shelter in upstate New York when we got her she was a very shy, fearful, and insecure puppy with a hint of early aggression. (Low growls when fearful, and resource guarding) As first-time dog owners, my wife and I understood that we needed a professional to help us create an amazing relationship with our puppy. Echo attend the 1-week puppy primer board and train program. before drop-off, I had many conversations with Joshua about the specific needs of my dog and Joshua worked with us to come up with the best training plan possible. All steps of the process were communicated to us by Joshua. Also, Joshua sent updates on the progress of our puppy throughout the week! Over the course of the 1-week board and Train, my dog learned many commands such as Sit+stay, Down+Stay, Place, Kennel, break and recall. Echo also started to learn the concept of Leash Pressure. While all of that is remarkable the biggest difference in Echo was her confidence, less insecurity, and lastly how she was attentive to me or my wife with eye contact all the time. Joshua also helped teach my wife and I how to manage the early sign of aggression to help get that under control before it becomes a big issue. At pick-up, Joshua took his time with me to show me everything Echo had learned, provided drills to continue progress, and overall transferred my dog's obedience from Joshua to me. My wife and I are very happy! It has been 2 weeks since the Board and Train and we’ve maintained and continued to build on the progress made during the training. My wife and I plan on enrolling Echo in the three-week full obedience board and training program once she is mature enough. The positive experience and foundation built during this process were truly life-changing. Joshua really made a difference in the Echo's quality of life and ours. Thank You!!
