Brenda, I’m truly sorry to hear that you’re disappointed with Ginger’s training. After working with a previous dog of yours, you know the pride and care we put into training both dogs and owners. Because of that history, I was surprised to see a one star review posted 10 months after Ginger’s go home lesson, especially without any prior contact from you.<br><br>I hear that you are frustrated and I would like to understand that better in person. I look forward to talking this over with you soon. In the end, we both want to the same thing - for your dog to listen to you and the two of you to consistently lead.<br><br>Hands down, you and Dave care for dogs deeply, as does the KDT team. I oversee four trainers on my team, all of whom are employees rather than contractors. I’ve mentored them throughout their development, and we continue to pursue ongoing education together and independently. Their passion for dogs and for professional growth plays a significant role in our success, adding over 18 years of combined experience alongside my 20 years in the industry.<br><br>Most dogs arrive with a basic understanding of certain commands, but typically only in low distraction environments. Much of what they know has been learned as simple tricks or novelty behaviors. For this reason, we begin with foundational work and build upward from there. To get a solid recall, obedience, manners, and a happy playful dog to listen, with or without distractions, on or off leash takes time, weeks, months, or years. Through consistency, motivation, and relationship, the dog has to want to listen and follow his leader. <br><br>As a team we all worked Ginger and were pleased with her growth in confidence, obedience, behavior when Ginger departed our facility. Most of all, I want to re-iterate that owner education during the Go Home training and attending follow-up sessions are crucial to carry over and owner success at home. <br><br>There was a follow‑up lesson scheduled two weeks after Ginger’s go‑home. The second follow‑up lesson is something owners schedule as needed, but it was not booked. We also have no record of any emails or phone calls from you or Dave since Ginger completed her training, based on the contact information we have on file. <br><br>As the owner, I work hard to compensate my staff fairly for their dedication while keeping our pricing reasonable. Our 2 week residency program is actually 15 days, and remains on the lower end of pricing for comparable programs of this type in Indiana.<br><br>We hope to hear from you so we can work through your concerns and help to provide the support you are needing. -Steve Kasten<br><br>
