Karma K9

When I called to book my appointment i was asked if i wanted to pay money for a bath. I declined and when i came to pick up my bod from boarding he was given a bath and I was charged $45. I explained to the girl that i declined a bath on the phone and she rudely looked and replied back that she’s sure i did say I wanted him to get a bath on the phone and if I declined it that it wouldn’t have been added. And then told me she will be charging me and to take it up with the owner if I have an issue. I didn’t say anything else because i didn’t want to get outside of myself. I would have never said yes to a $45 bath because we bathe our dog ourselves and could have done it for free. Poor poor customer service and have spent thousands at this establishment. I do not trust them and will not be bringing my dog back here for boarding out of fear she will mistreat him from our encounter. Also she just proved that whatever they tack on the bill they will charge for it whether you asked for it not. Really sad and piss poor on their part. Whoever was at the front today maybe the owners daughter shouldn’t be in customer service as she doesn’t know how to handle customers. It isn’t about the money but the fact that I know what I agreed to on the phone during the initial booking and what i didn’t. For her to tell me what I said is not acceptable and does not solve the issue at hand. Piss poor.

I live behind this place and even on cold nights all I hear is barking and howling. Some nights it is really cold. Barking all day and night. I feel so bad as a dog mom. As I typed this there is a dog howling in a sad manner. If you don't believe me maybe do a drive by at night. Smh, boarding should be inside when it cold, rainy and windy. The fact that you don't acknowledge the apartment complex right on the other side of the storage units located next to or close to you is amazing. That is what is called a residential area. There is actually two complexes on the same road before you get to your facility. I can walk to your business in less than 3 mins. Funny how also tonight no dogs barking outside at night since posting my review. When I posted this it was well after hours and well into the evening. My neighbors and I talk about this all the time. But tonight it's quite. Now I will say it's not all the time. But I have lived here over 2 years and on more nights than not including in the winter you can clearly hear the dogs barking or howling sadly. I never said your services are bad. But I would never use your facility knowing my animals would be left outside over night. I finally just had enough of hearing them poor babies on a cooler than usual evening. Your services in training may be great. But your care of the animals especially during colder days and nights not so much. Now if you want me to file complaints I can. But I thought by maybe posting here, you would know a dog momma is listening. And the fact it was rainy, windy and colder than normal it made me upset. Thank you for putting the babies up tonight and hopefully while we are having are colder than normal nights especially this coming weekend they will always be inside. Have a good evening.

10/10 would recommend Karma K9 & Melissa for dog training! We have a 4yo Shiba who really struggled with confidence overall. He did not do well with people coming to our house, he would bark non-stop- sometimes for >1-2hrs. He had lunged at a few guests and nipped at someone’s leg. This caused us to totally change our lifestyle- avoiding having people at our house and going through great lengths to adjust our lives to accommodate his behavior. After 4 weeks with Melissa, he made incredible progress that I didn’t think was possible! He has more confidence and obedience and listens. With his place command, we’ve now been able to have a few guests over to our house with him on place and his behavior is like a complete 180! He can lay there calmly with guests walking around the house, 6 months ago I wouldn’t have dreamed this was possible. At this point, Melissa is trying to train ME to have some trust in him 😆 because I still am nervous. But he’s proving that if we have boundaries & enforce his training, he makes good decisions. It has given us so much more confidence with him and freedom, and our dogs life is better for it. You WILL have to keep up with the obedience once your pup comes home, but it’s worth it!!

As a dog mom, I completely understand the fear of sending your baby to a trainer. However, I assure you that Karma K9 is a lovely team worth your consideration. Although I was extremely saddened that I wouldn't see my baby for at least three weeks (Off-Leash Board and Train Program)- the team's reassurance and the weekly report cards made it so much easier, and I couldn't be happier with my decision. My 3-year-old Aspen (husky-lab mix) used to struggle with a plethora of issues, including leash-pulling, excessive barking, and separation anxiety. After Aspen attended Karma K9's Off-Leash Board and Train program in April, my family and I have continued to be astonished by her improvements. Although I need to note that Aspen still struggles with some things like reactivity, the Karma K9 team has continued to help me tackle them, and perfect behavior resulting from training isn't realistic. Since Aspen's training program, she's had notable improvements with leash, crate, and social manners. Despite my worry that training would break Aspen's spirit, I assure you this wasn't the case. Karma's training style promotes positive reinforcement and correction, two fundamentals of dog training. While some people might be hesitant to correct their dogs, Karma will teach you how to apply corrections that don't devastate your relationship with your dog and don't cause them to be fearful and insecure. Aspen's training and the knowledge provided to me through the Karma team have only strengthened our relationship. Training has been an outlet of joy and bonding for Aspen and me, and she is constantly learning more and more. Also, Aspen's higher obedience levels have increased the number of experiences we can share. While training is very beneficial, it is crucial to note that upkeeping your dog's training is mandatory to their ever-lasting success. Through Karma's handler sessions, you will have all the knowledge and tools necessary to upkeep your baby's training. The Karma K9 team wants to see you and your dog thrive. These kind and compassionate people have answered all my questions and are always up for a handler session, especially Curtis (whom I've had the most interactions with). If you are considering sending your dog to training, please complete your handler sessions; as I mentioned earlier, they are crucial to your dog's success. Although I live over an hour away from the Karma K9 building, the team always works with me on scheduling. While I've completed more than my required handler sessions, the team always welcomes me back to continue improving and elevating Aspen's training, making the venture to Jacksonville more than worth it! I'm so beyond thankful to have stumbled across Karma K9. Aspen and I will always keep in touch, and any future dogs I adopt will undoubtedly be attending the same training program as Aspen.
