Kandid K9 Dog Training

I have to say that before Josh & Ali came into our lives, we weren't sure if we would be able too keep our two English cream golden retrievers. They are very sweet and loving, but they were destroying absolutely anything and everything around them, from the leather couches, to shoes, to expensive wallets and our entire drip system in the backyard that waters our citrus trees. The final tally of what they had destroyed came to about $10,000 worth of property. They would also bark incessantly for hours. We were at our wit's end, but a friend had recommended Kandid K9 to us because she had put her own dog through the boot camp with rave reviews. So, we decided to play a hail mary and give this situatuation one last shot, as we love them very much and knew that our son would be heartbroken if we had to find them a new home. Ali came over about a month before their scheduled date for camp and gave us a rundown of what they would be learning along with what we needed to know to ensure their success. It was extremely helpful. Josh and Ali had even reached out to us at one point and asked if it would be ok if they kept our dogs for a little while longer because even though they had been doing great, they wanted to make sure their training was deeply embedded. Our dogs, Wyatt & Wiloh came home completely changed for the better. They are so much calmer, they are no longer jumping up on the kitchen counters to steal food, they haven't destroyed a single thing in the house and they are even going potty in a specific spot in the yard now. One of the things we are so happy about is that they are now crate trained which had been a HUGE blessing for us as a family. Josh has come over to the house several times since they've been back, in order to make sure their training is sticking and to help us with any questions or concerns we may have. You can tell that both Josh & Ali are truly educated and specialized in the workings of a dog's mind and behavior and they really love what they do. They care about each and every dog they work with on a deep level. We can't begin to thank them enough. Our pups are happy and so are we!!

We met with multiple trainers and even had our Diesel go to a 2 week board and train wat another place and then we met Josh at Kandid K9 who was by far the best trainer we met. We did a 2 week board and train which helped tremendously with our Cane Corso Diesel. Not only that but you get group sessions and home visits for as long as you need after wards. You can tell Josh really k iws what he is doing and actually cares! Thank you Kandid K9 for the amazing work.

I can’t recommend Kandid K9 highly enough. They are the 3rd trainers we worked with for our reactive and anxious lab and have helped him and us so much with everything from walking, basic commands, barking, jumping, counter surfing and more! They are very knowledgeable and work with the dog’s psychology and behavior patterns to deliver results. They are also very supportive and will provide help and refreshers along your training journey. If you’re on the fence about getting a trainer - do it! It is well worth the money and time to do it right.

I’ve been meaning to write this review for a long time and just had a situation that renewed my appreciation for all of the education and support that Kandid K9 has provided for me and my dog. I started working with Kandid K9 when my dog was about 4 months old (he’ll be 3 next month). Prior to getting him I did a lot of self study and preparation knowing that he was going to grow up to be a powerful, intelligent, and driven guy. However, by 4 months old I knew that positive reinforcement only training was not going to cut it and Ali and her team were recommend to me by two people with the same breed of dog as me (Beauceron). Within our first few sessions my dog had huge improvements in not jumping up and biting my husband and mother-in-law for the pure joy of it. Turns out dogs (and all other living things) need clear boundaries about what’s appropriate behavior and Kandid K9 helped us establish those boundaries clearly and humanely. Once we got our basic house manners dialed in we began working on more advanced obedience and sport skills. While I’ve had to step back a little bit from that currently my dog and I easily earned our first qualifying score in novice obedience. All this to say Kandid K9 has been an amazing resource in helping me to be a proficient handler of a large powerful dog and that he is a pleasure to live with and safe to take out into the world. My 12 year old daughter regularly walks him with no issues. And about today, all of our foundational training paid off big time when we were out in the yard playing. One of my chickens flew over the fence of their run and landed in our pool. While I can’t say for sure that if there wasn’t that minor barrier of the chicken being in the pool and my dog being on the pool deck that things wouldn’t have ended differently, I was able to call my dog away from the chicken before anything dire occurred. My dog maintained a respectable distance even as the chicken managed to hop out of the pool and stand dumbfounded on the edge. I called my dog again and he defaulted to his outdoor place. I did have to use my stern voice to get him off his place sending laser beam eyes of desire at my chicken to get him in the house, but he came in without a lot of drama or resistance. So whether you want your dog to be a nicely mannered house dog, you want to get started with more formal dog training/sports, or you need your dog to be reliable in the face of unexpected circumstances, Kandid K9 is definitely qualified. They’re kind, supportive, and committed and I can’t recommend them highly enough.
