Kalamazoo Kennel Club

I had a fantastic experience at the Kalamazoo Kennel Club’s FastCAT event this weekend — it was my dog Franzik’s last run of the season, and what a way to end it! The new FastCAT track is excellent. The sand pit at the end adds a great layer of safety, especially for high-drive dogs like Franzik who don’t exactly slow down after the finish line — he hit that pit still at full speed. The double fencing was another smart addition that made the whole setup feel much more secure. One of my favorite features was the blockers along the main fence — they usually help distractible dogs stay focused, but they also helped super prey-driven dog stay calmer in line (like my boy). He could still hear the lure (which kept him excited), but the blockers prevented him from going into full meltdown mode before his run. Very clever design! The turf surface worked well — no issues at all with traction or speed. Franzik chased the lure just as intensely as ever. Huge thanks to the Kalamazoo Kennel Club for hosting such a well-thought-out and fun event. We’ll definitely be back next season!
