Kabler School For Dogs

Exceptional people and program. Far exceeded my expectations. My dog Sonny is a rescue Pitty, and very stubborn and excitable. It was very challenging to walk him, and his reaction to other people and animals made it impossible to take him anywhere. The program provided me with a foundation to work with, and the personal training and guidance that I needed to understand how to work with him. Now he walks on a loose leash by my side, is polite with people we meet, and I can walk him around other dogs without reactivity. We are even working up to off-leash walking. Sonny clearly understands expectations and responds to commands, where before he would completely ignore me. Now I take him just about everywhere! I admit I was skeptical at first, especially with the cost. It has been worth every penny. I continue to be impressed with the dedicated follow up to the residential program. They don't just cut you loose and leave you on your own, and they really worked with me to make this financially possible. They went above and beyond. We've had multiple follow up meetings, and when the quality of the training, the equipment, the individual instruction, and the follow-ups are all considered, the cost is actually quite reasonable. And the results have been remarkable! Thank you to David, Candy, Nick, and the rest of the staff that helped me get Sonny to this point, and continue to demonstrate their genuine dedication to this process. Last year, I definitely considered rehoming my mini labradoodle pup. He barked, jumped, pulled, reacted and had caused me physical harm by pulling me to the ground while walking on a leash. I sent him to Kabler School in Asheville as a last ditch effort. I picked him up from Kabler in November 2022 and am writing this review in June of 2023 - because of the daily gratitude I still feel for what this school did for my pup. He is a totally different dog. He has increased confidence and he knows his commands. His overwhelming desire is to do the commands and be praised. I receive so many compliments when we walk in the neighborhood and on trails about how responsive he is and how close he stays to me (we did the off leash training). It has changed our relationship so much - from a power struggle dynamic to a close, trusting, mutually loving relationship. I can’t even believe now that I was thinking of giving this dog away. I could not really picture what was possible in terms of transformation of his behavior and our relationship. Thank you so much to the capable trainers at Kabler!!

Because I developed, over several years, an autoimmune condition which affects my inner ear and periodically renders me immobile, I embarked on a search for a service dog to act both as my trusted helper and companion in all of my daily activities (walking, hiking, running, etc). I searched online and spoke with several trainers who specialize in service/assisted mobility K9 companions, but it seemed that they didn’t have neither the time nor patience to embark on this journey with me. My search ended when David Kabler returned my call. I was immediately put to ease by his calm, patient, and reassuring demeanor - he listened attentively to my needs and suggested we meet in person for an in depth consultation. During our meeting, David painted a clear picture of what the journey would be like, and the nuances of choosing the proper breed for my personal needs. I took notes and with his guidance proceeded to choose Sherpa, my service dog. It has been an incredible 15 months…although challenging, everyday Sherpa becomes more the dog that I envisioned for my needs. With David’s guidance, I can now teach Sherpa whatever command I need within just a few days - It is truly remarkable. I cannot recommend David enough. His training facility is impeccable, and has all the tools necessary for whatever type of training is needed. And now I see David more than just my trainer, but a friend.

My German Shepherd and I are so fortunate to be working with Kabler school! All the staff are professional, attentive, and teach with an immense depth of knowledge and patience. Most importantly, they clearly have deep love and respect for canines. I am particularly grateful to Candy who has helped me navigate a year of training my GSD. Silas absolutely adores her and loves going to his training sessions. You will learn not only about your dog but also about yourself and how to foster the best relationship with your canine companion. I highly recommend Kabler School for Dogs! It is well worth the investment!
