I’ve been around Stonehill Kennels for the past 13 years, as a friend, and a client, and I’m proud to know Chris Byrne. Years ago he saw a kid with a flat tire and an unruly dog pull in his driveway looking for help, he took care of me, taught me what I needed to know, and because of him I had a wonderful life with my dog, and I’ll never forget what he did for me. Chris saw a kid in need and because of his character he gave me an opportunity to learn, and it’s what I needed to start down a more successful path in life. I was proud of my dog, my best friend, and his companionship game me the courage to put myself out there and learn other skills. I’m writing this as a successful late 30 year old who is back at Stonehill with a new puppy, it feels full circle in a way, and Chris played a part in it, so thank you. Chris even has relationships with those considered to be the VERY BEST trainers in the whole country, we’re lucky to have them here. Everything I’ve ever seen at Stonehill has been nothing but hard work, great care, and folks who want nothing but the best for any of the animals under their care. The Byrne family and their employees are all stellar individuals with straight morals and I’ll forever stand by that. Chris passed his traits down to CJ who has shown to be equally if not more talented and caring than his father and I look forward to continuing my relationship with them.

I’m sharing a bit of our story in hopes it may help others who may be struggling with their pups. Ryder was the sweetest pup who had a traumatic start to life HOWEVER Life isn’t always what we expect. Ryder started showing signs of aggression at 5 months. Ryder’s separation anxiety skyrocketed & he was demonstrating self harm behaviors. Ryder’s resource guarding had all of us on edge. Suddenly getting a sweet puppy turned into an experience I felt I was inadequate to handle. We had him checked medically and turns out this was all behavioral. We turned to Animal Reiki and a behavioral dog trainer. The Reiki was helping, dog trainer-not so much. Throughout training, Ryder’s dose of CBD kept going up yet his separation anxiety remained high, self harm behaviors continued. We were made to feel like failures and often told Ryder was “too much dog” for us. We were instructed to never take Ryder in public and keep him away from children. We realized the training techniques were stressing everyone out, causing more harm than good so went separate ways. This is when Stonehill Kennel crossed our path. CJ is a kind soul who spent several conversations with me answering questions and calming fears triggered by our last trainer experience. We scheduled a tour of Stonehill. When CJ called to confirm I had informed him my Dad was in the hospital&I wouldn’t be able to make it however my partner will come and FaceTime me in. What CJ said next showed me I was heard. He asked if I was staying home because we didn’t have a sitter for Ryder and couldn’t crate him. I said yes and with no hesitation he said, bring Ryder with you. CJ’s ability to hear and understand what we were experiencing helped to ease my doubt of trainers. Once we got there, Chris and CJ spent a good amount of time with us. They witnessed Ryder’s aggressive outburst, separation anxiety and our heartache. What happened next showed me their big hearts- they put it simple…I’ll never forget it… “you can’t go on like this, instead of waiting, leave Ryder with us tonight, we will work out the details together tomorrow.” CJ means what he says, says what he means. We were placed with Landry and so grateful. Landry has been nothing but transparent, to the point & direct with us which I completely respect. Landry demonstrated great patience with all my questions and eased so many of our fears and concerns by simply taking the time to explain things to us in ways we understood. Throughout training Landry has given us tools to help Ryder & educated us on dog behavior. Landry had his job cut out for him with me for sure, yet he had nothing but patience. I was not the easiest to train because much of what he was teaching me was going against the grain of what I’ve always known with dogs. Ryder feel less anxious, is no longer on any CBD, and is starting to feel comfortable in his crate. We are a family again and able to provide Ryder with the life he needs in order to feel safe. Because of Stonehill and Landry we are no longer walking on eggshells and for that we are forever grateful to them. Because of Landry and what he has taught us, we are all living life again and able to enjoy Ryder rather than live in fear. Ryder is well behaved in public areas and with children! Ryder loves his Grandma & follows every command she gives him. Ryder is extremely intelligent and we now understand how to help him navigate his intelligence in a healthy way. Thank you Landry for respecting Ryder, caring for him and being the loving knowledgeable soul that you are! Considering Ryder was in a kill shelter at 8 weeks old-you play a major role in Ryder’s second chance at life! You are 1 special person Landry and Stonehill is a blessing to this world! We highly recommend Stonehill- If times are tough with your pup please hang in there. These 4-legged souls deserve a true chance- some need more attention and care than others and some naturally fall into place….Stonehill is a heart-centered facility and will help you no matter what your circumstances are, you won’t be disappointed. Very skilled trainers and very professional. I’m overly satisfied with the training my dog received from Stonehill. They honestly care about the dogs they train and are extremely good at what they do. My husband and I learned so much on how to interact with our dog to get results that are very pleasing. Cory and CJ were amazing and I highly recommend this facility for the board and train program. Also a HUGE thank you to Chris Byrne for all you did for Steve and I. You turned a not so great situation to something so wonderful and we are so grateful
