What areas do you serve?
We’re located in downtown Ferndale and serve the surrounding metro Detroit area. For our Day Training service, we work within a 5-mile radius of our facility.
We use positive reinforcement and science-based training methods. Our trainers are certified and follow the recommendations of the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior (AVSAB) and focus on building trust and communication between dogs and their families through kind, force-free techniques.
Puppies can start classes after their first round of vaccinations and with a negative fecal test from their veterinarian. We follow AVSAB guidelines that recommend early socialization before puppies are fully vaccinated in order to prevent future behavior issues that can come from lack of proper socialization during these developmental windows.
Absolutely! We specialize in helping reactive dogs through our structured program that includes online foundations, in-person classes, and practice sessions. We have both indoor and outdoor reactive classes to meet each dog’s need and comfort level.
Most group classes are 45 minutes long - the perfect amount of time for dogs to optimize learning. Our core classes run for 6 weeks and electives run weekly for 4 weeks.

I recently completed the basic manners course with my dog. Everything about this course and K9 Turbo Training as a whole is very well organized. I was very impressed by our instructor Devene, who taught us not only how to have our dogs learn basic commands using positive reinforcement but also how dogs think, learn, and behave in general. As the owner of a 100 pound Doberman who loves to chase squirrels, I'm excited about signing up for the Overcoming Distractions course next! Can't recommend this training center highly enough!

I ended up having to speak with the higher ups, and explain where my Service Dogs puppy training is, and I needed specialty Service Dog puppy training, not pet/esa puppy training as there is a significant difference. I'm glad I raised my concerns talke with the management on this got it worked out.
And the one on one puppy-Service Dog training we were working on task training, walking off lead, and public access basics with my Service Dog were exactly 💯 what we needed.
Glad we stopped the 101Puppy classes and asked if they had trainers for what we specifically needed for my dog to become a Service Dog.
And glad they were able to switch us out, not waste our money on unnecessary classes, and was able to swiftly changed me out of those Puppy/ESA classes that we'd not benifit us. And putting us in different 1 on 1 that was successful with puppy-service dog training that'll actually benifit us.
We are grateful this matter was corrected right away before I wasted gas and went to another unnecessary class.
I hope that the other trainers here can learn from the trainer I talked today with over the phone when it comes to diffrences for the 'right puppy-training that is needed based onnif customer says Pet/ESA or if its going to be a Therapy ServiceDog or ServiceDog and choose right effective-training-program and 'not lug them all together and push the wrong training-package'.
To actually take time to evaluate us and what we need depending of if the puppy is going on to be just a pet, esa or is it going to be a Therapy Service Dog or Service Dog for the Handler in order to get us into right classes that would benifit us as Handler with my Service Dog Puppy.
With that said, we were able to get the training we needed and continued it, then we finished it up and had the Service Dog organization we also were working with come out and evaluate for the Public Access 1 and 2 training. Greatful to say the 1 on 1 trahere helped us prepare for the Service Dog Public Access Tests and we got to move ahead our Puppy-Service Dog training with 1 on 1 training here and finished.
Thanks for fixing the matter and addressing my concerns. And between the training here and online with Service Dog organization.
My puppy and I acheieved the Public Access training and Public Access Accomedation Tests with flying colors.
Since then,we've been an Service Dog team, and everywhere we go, we recieve many compliments on how wonderful his behavior, tasking, alerts, and what is expected for a working service dog is shows how amazing we are as a team and my now 4yr Service Dog puppy is.
I always tell them we did part of the training with Service Dog organization online and then the other part one on one in personal at this academy to recieve top notch results and move forward quickly to complete the Public Access Tests.
Thanks for the 1 on 1 training that helped us move forward with Service Dog training so we could finish ahead of the time frame given for us to become a successful Service Dog team.

K9 Turbo Training is my go-to resource for modern, force-free dog training. My dogs have gone there for Puppy & Manners classes and most recently for a reactivity class and private instruction. The trainers here are some of the most knowledgeable, certified positive trainers in my area and I can't say enough great things about them.

I have been taking my dog to K9 Turbo for about a year and a half now for obedience and other classes. The trainers are all wonderful and knowledgeable and if you’re willing to follow through with what they teach, you’ll get a lot out of group classes. There’s a wide variety of offerings- they’ve even helped me find some dog sports that my pup loves!

They value positive reinforcement, and treat dogs like family! So grateful to find this amazing place and plan to stay for many years to come!
