What areas do you serve?
We’re located in downtown Ferndale and serve the surrounding metro Detroit area. For our Day Training service, we work within a 5-mile radius of our facility.

What training methods do you use?
We use positive reinforcement and science-based training methods. Our trainers are certified and follow the recommendations of the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior (AVSAB) and focus on building trust and communication between dogs and their families through kind, force-free techniques.

What is the minimum age for puppy classes?
Puppies can start classes after their first round of vaccinations and with a negative fecal test from their veterinarian. We follow AVSAB guidelines that recommend early socialization before puppies are fully vaccinated in order to prevent future behavior issues that can come from lack of proper socialization during these developmental windows.

Do you work with reactive dogs?
Absolutely! We specialize in helping reactive dogs through our structured program that includes online foundations, in-person classes, and practice sessions. We have both indoor and outdoor reactive classes to meet each dog’s need and comfort level.

How long are your group classes?
Most group classes are 45 minutes long - the perfect amount of time for dogs to optimize learning. Our core classes run for 6 weeks and electives run weekly for 4 weeks.

Wonderful trainers! I’ve taken classes with Maddy and Dana and they are both excellent. They really take their time to explain dog behavior and I have learned so much. I feel more confident with my dog and being able to anticipate how he may react in different scenarios by watching his body language.

She took the time to understand Maverick’s personality and our goals for training, and gave us practical, easy-to-follow guidance that we could implement right away at home. Her approach was thoughtful and encouraging, and she made sure we felt confident continuing the training between sessions. We really appreciated how professional, kind, and attentive she was throughout the process. It’s clear that she truly cares about the dogs she works with and wants to set them up for long-term success. Maverick responded so well to her! I learned a lot of methods and strategies for training my 4-year old opinionated dog to diminish her inappropriate reactivity. Melissa is very considerate and skilled at helping me develop methods that work well for me.
