K9 Logic Dog Training

As a professional dog trainer myself, I don’t give praise lightly... but K9 Logic has my fullest respect. Chris isn’t just great at training dogs, he’s exceptional at training trainers. I owe a huge amount of my growth to Chris. His ability to break down complex behaviors, build clear systems, and explain why things work has had a massive impact on how I train and how I think as a professional. His standards are high, his methods are effective, and his results speak for themselves. If you’re a dog owner in the LA area looking for top-tier training, or a dog trainer who wants to refine your systems, sharpen your skills, and actually level up... Update and a bit more clarity on the below review::: Since expressing this, Chris and the team have really come through to discuss and find a solution. They offered two individual classes at no cost, where one was at my home with my parents - which was incredibly helpful. My dog and I have also still been loving the group classes and cannot wait to join the pack hikes. I've also loved knowing I can trust the K9 team for boarding when I'm out of town - they take great care while also doing continued training! Here's why I'd felt disappointed with the program, as I do think it's important for future owners to know so they can advocate for the training that might work best for them and their budget, and not just go with what is recommended and hope for the best. When I first met with the team for the evaluation, I'd gone into extreme detail about the training I'd done / was doing and the issues my dog and I were facing, and what I was really hoping to focus on. This also included information about our prior board and train stay with a different team (they were great, but I was interested in how K9 Logic focuses on a mix of e-collar and muzzle training plus positive reinforcement & food drive), and the worrying behavior my dog had been exhibiting. I discussed how much of her reactivity seemed tied to me, and her favorite places & people. I did not meet with Chris during a portion of the evaluation - only at the end - so I don't know if this is where communication might've been unclear. I followed up in an email though, to ensure all was in writing in case it needed to be referred to. When a 6 week board and train stay was recommended, I was a bit surprised considering our history of training and everything I'd already been working on with my dog -- before we had met, I thought we might do a shorter board and train followed by individual classes. However, I decided that they're the experts and know what they're doing, so I would go with their recommendation. I do wish I had listened to my gut and brought this up, because I would have saved thousands. Hindsight is 20/20. When I mentioned how my dog's reactivity hadn't seemed to change after her 6 week stay, I was told 'we didn't see her exhibit that behavior' ... which was very upsetting. What did I pay all this money for then? At our evaluation I'd gone into such detail about everything, including how she would be on her best behavior if she saw the trainers around (this happened at her daycare) - she's extremely smart. The fact that she didn't exhibit any of those behaviors during her board and train stay, meant to me that she was not put in more advanced scenarios or have those issues that I thought we'd talked about worked on...? It instead seemed to be more like a refresher course - learning 'sit', 'down', 'place', and so on; or doing things like going to Home Depot, Petco, and sitting calmly at a grassy park (exercises I'd already been doing with her). This was also very frustrating, because if individual classes were what was needed to address these more advanced behaviors or reactivity... then I can't afford them anymore now and need to wait some time for my savings to bulk back up. Again though, hindsight is 20/20. If you're an owner who's desperately looking for help and your reactive dog seems to be a special case (ie: an incredibly smart rescue pup, who's been through trauma) -- a shorter board & train if necessary, followed by individual and group training, seems like it might be a better and more cost-effective way to go. I've really appreciated K9 Logic's communication about this all and the above, and very much look forward to continued training with Chris and the team. ______ The K9 Logic Crew have been helpful and kind as I navigate training with my 2 year old Malinois / Shepherd mix. We're still in training, so update to come. We really enjoyed our first Group Session so far; the Board & Train program helped with her food drive - but unfortunately was pretty disappointing and a waste of 8K.

I had such a wonderful experience with K9 Logic. When my girlfriend and I were moving in with each other, we were trying to prepare my dog to get acquainted with living under the same roof as her cat. So we went to K9 Logic for some guidance, and met with Chris who was super helpful and attentive to our needs. We strengthened my dog's place command and she lives in harmony with our cat to this day. We'd highly recommend K9 Logic to anyone looking for help with their dog.

After seeing all the wonderful reviews I went in with high hopes and wanting to like this place. I mainly wanted to increase my dog's confidence (80lb 8 month old cane corso mix) and get good socialization since i am new to the area and dont have "dog people" friends to work with him around. The evaluation was a huge let down. I have 13+ years working with dog's in shelters and hospitals, so I do have knowledge. I was told that my dog really "isnt that bad" after telling him I was concerned my dog would fear bite after he has lunged, barked and snapped at multiple people in the weeks since getting him from rescue (this comment came after talking to me for 15 minutes in a completely quiet room with no one else around, of course my dog doesn't seem that bad in the setting). I was then talked down to about food choices, wanting to neuter my dog, and getting him from a rescue. The evaluator proceeded to show me videos that had nothing to do with the reason that I was there, explaining something and then telling me "Im sure that doesn't make sense " when it did indeed make sense, when asked "do you know what an e-collar is" and I asked if they meant a medical e-collar or a shock collar they laughed (they of course meant shock collar) , and being told what a crate is after saying i knew what one was. They were clearly working from a script and it didnt feel like a naturally flowing conversation in the least. Also it was insinuated that I was feeding my dog too much even though I specifically said im trying to put weight on him (you could count every rib and vertebrae in this dog when I got him). They get two stars because I can see how their brand of training could work for some people. Thank you for reading 🖤
