K9 Basics - Dog Training

Our six month old Doberman "Baron" participated and graduated from the Advanced Off-Leash Obedience, Board Train Program. Baron had a lot of untapped potential when we took him here. Though he lacked focus at home and although we tried, we were unable to produce results satisfying for us or him. Learning from friends and relatives of the success they had with their pets; we sent our Dobie to what we called "boot camp". An intensive three week in-house training facility where he would receive training three times per day. He would also be engaged with other dogs and further his socialization skills which is good for him. They use positive methods, along with skilled trainers that show they truly care about the pets they are working with. Baron had the opportunity to be working with Nichole, the Head Trainer, who was superb with him. He learned how to walk not only on a leash but also without a leash; heeling directly to the left side at our knee and keeping in step with our pace. Turns were spot on with him with no hesitation. He now knows how to "place" and sit quietly when needed such as when company comes over and/or I go to get the mail. No more running out the front door and down the front yard barking at the world. The result of sending Baron to K9 Basics is a calmer, more refined, better trained, dog. Everything we hoped for in the way of training for Baron he received. To say that we are more than pleased is an understatement. We would highly recommend this program to friends and family. Our Veterinarian requested brochures after seeing the transformation in order to hand them out to clients in need of this type of service/training.

First, I want to thank Brian, Nichole, and the entire K9 Basics staff for taking in our 1 year old imported GSD for the past four weeks. My girlfriend and I are not ones to trust other people with our girl, Belle. From day 1, after interacting with the entire K9 Basics staff, we felt extremely comfortable and we realized she would be in great hands. Simply put, K9 Basics has an amazing and top notch dog training program. From the staff, to the facilities, to the training methods, everything is done first class. Belle went to K9 Basics as a nervous, dog-reactive, and non-obedient puppy. Belle returned as a confident, non dog-reactive, very obedient puppy. The work and turnaround that K9 Basics has been able to achieve with Belle is nothing short of spectacular. As with any training program, it is up to my girlfriend and I to keep Belle's training going but with the foundation that Brian, Nichole, and staff were about to instill, it will be a piece of cake! Now onto the price of the board and train program.I initially had some reservations about the price but it is absolutely worth it. If you want the best training (on and off leash) for your dog - pay it. Enough said. (i.e. the first day after K9 Basics, we heeled Belle OFF LEASH up and down our driveway, which is near a ton of distractions - I feel completely comfortable that she would not run off the entire time!). Our dog lady girl didn't like strangers. To our family she was a big mush but she was very anxious and nervous with strangers. She would growl and run away. I was afraid she might end up biting a guest someday. We were sent to k-9 basics by someone at petsmart who also sent her pit there and saw excellent results. We had our evaluation and decided on board and train. The results are almost unbelievable. She is so much happier and more relaxed. She listens and has learned manners. She was always a loving mushy dog but they helped her get past her fear of strangers. She now listens and responds to corrections even if she is scared. The trainer nicole was amazing on giving me updates and working with lady. I know the whole staff worked together to bring her out of her shell and help her get over her fear of strangers. I cant say enough praise for the wonderful job they did with her!

My husband and I brought our then 10 month old beagle to K9 Basics 2 months ago. We were having issues with resource guarding and aggression. During our initial appointment, Brian met with myself while the head trainer Nichole worked with our dog. Brian gave a comprehensive overview of their philosophy, training tools, and structure of their program. We opted for the 3 week intense board and train program for our puppy as we felt it was the best way to really get a hold of this behavior. We met up with Nichole and our dog 2 weeks later to find he had done a complete turn around. He was responsive, calm, and extremely attentive. I couldn't believe what he was able to do. Truthfully, I wanted to cry from relief. Now, he has been home for about 6 weeks and has successfully transferred all of his training to our house. We were strongly urged to bring him to group class, which we get as part of the program for the rest of his life, and we have done this weekly. This has been incredibly beneficial because it connects him back to his trainers each week, allows him to practice, and gives us the practice as well. We couldn't be happier with the work that K9 Basics did for us, and for the level of training our dog has received. We didn't think that it was possible for our dog to behave this way, but K9 Basics has made it our new reality. Highly, highly recommend for all dog behaviors from basic obedience to difficult/aggressive behavior.

UNBELIEVABLE !!! If you are not bringing your dog to this place for training you AND your dog are missing the boat. I have had many dogs throughout my life and thought they were well behaved. K-9 Basics showed me what a well trained dog is supposed to be. I placed my 8 month old Pomsky ( Pomeranian/Siberian Husky mix) in their Board and Train program. He wasn't a bad dog to start with, but a typical puppy who did his own thing and was easily distracted. He knew what buttons to push and in a cute manner took control over me and everyone else! I researched a lot of personal dog trainers and group settings before I decided on K-9. Without a doubt, one of the best decisions I've ever made. After a few weeks in the Board and Train program I now have a QUIET well behaved young dog. He obeys every command with a wag of his tail and I could not be more pleased. Even off leash he never leaves my side and that's true even with multiple distractions all around him. I don't just love this place for the results they get but because of the way they achieve these results. Brian, Nicole, and the other staff go out of their way to make sure each and every dog in the program gets extraordinary amounts of personal attention. They treat these dogs as if they are their own and it shows . I received regular photo updates as well as calls from Nicole on his progress. I can't imagine ever using any other dog training person or organization again. As an aside, the on-site kennel they have is amazing too. They take such good care of the dogs and have the cleanest facility I have ever seen. The staff at the kennel also give each dog so much attention and love. It's a wonder the dogs ever want to leave this place between the boarding and the fun they have during training. Never think twice about K-9. It is THE place to bring your pooch !!!!
