Joey Luke's Dog Training

I took my puppy Bruno to do a 6 session training with Katie at Joey Luke’s! Bruno struggled with reactivity whenever he saw kids or other dogs in the distance. He had some bad experiences with off-leash dogs coming at him so I wanted to correct those behaviors. He also had trouble with some house training stuff such as counter surfing or jumping on guests when they arrive at my apartment. Katie helped me learn the correct tools to help Bruno! She was so diligent and kind and really cared about his progress. She was always one text or phone call away. We practiced being in different environments and situations that might cause Bruno to react in the future. She really helped us so much and I’m so happy I found Joey Luke’s and did this training!

We bought a 18 week old Silver lab puppy. The 1st week she was so uncivilized I thought we made a huge mistake by getting her. We already had a 4 yr. old chocolate lab that we were looking to get her a playmate. I was debating on giving her up because she had so many behavior issues. I bought her for my daughter and she pleaded with me not to get rid of her. I said ok, but we have to get her with a professional trainer ASAP. Called my son who has 2 dogs, he said you have to go to Joey Luke dog training. We made an appointment w/ Joey at his house. He evaluated our dog Luna,. even after Luna was very wild at Joey’s house he agreed to take on the task of training Luna. He said give me 3 weeks / 5 hrs. and we will transform her to the dog you want in your life. I thought to myself, yeah right. Joey set up schedule to come to our house, which was great. The night before her schedule training session, Luna ran through our front room breaking glass lamps and a glass soup bowl. She cut her leg wide open and required 6 stiches and cost almost $1,000 dollars. Training was postponed for 2 weeks, then Joey came over and started his personalized training. We just finished our 3rd session of training and now our dog is the dog everyone would dream to have. He obeys commands, does not jump on people coming into our house, my daughter can walk him in our neighborhood w/ several agreesive dogs with no fear of control. My daughter is only 100 Lbs., and Luna is pushing 50lbs. She gives him a command and he obeys it, so I have no fear of her taking the dog for a walk by herself. Joey is the GOAT ( greatest of the all-time ) trainers. I have never meet a more caring dog person in my life. Forget yelling at your dog, spanking him etc. Call Joey, and enjoy your pet for years to come.

I first hired Joey for my 2 year old South African boerboel, Kaa. He was unmanageable on walks, showed fear through aggression and is HUGE (165lbs)!! I couldn’t manage to control him outside of my home despite him being sweet as pie. After going through the 4 week board and train my life with Kaa has changed COMPLETELY!! He takes walks perfectly, he lets me know when people or situations make him uncomfortable but I still have not lost my faith that he will protect me if need be. As much as Kaa has learned, I have too. Joey has instilled and continues to provide me with confidence to handle Kaa which ultimately makes my relationship with him stronger. Not only can I take him out for walks, I can introduce him to new dogs and take him to other people’s homes without fear of him reacting poorly. Hiring Joey was the best decision I’ve made when it comes to dog ownership! 10/10 review!!!

If I could give zero stars I would. This review is several months, maybe even a year post Joey Luke’s. When we decided to hire a professional dog trainer we had been through so much and had so much aggravation that we would do anything to get our dog to listen to us. Fast forward to our appt with Joey. He showed us training tools and they immediately showed results, instilling in us that these are appropriate. We hired him for private lessons in our home where each lesson was scheduled for 1 hour, he never stayed over 30 minutes except at that first lesson. This man teaches a dog to obey by pain and fear. He has made it to where I am unable to handle my dog without a prong collar. He wants all dogs to be obedient but does not take the owners wishes into consideration. I have a hound and he goes for walks specifically to work his body and his senses, Joey luke has no tolerance for sniffing unless it’s scheduled. Your dog will not be allowed to use the bathroom on a walk unless it’s released to do so. This man has made my dog severely reactive and now over a year later I am fighting tooth and nail to help my dog unlearn these behaviors as well as fear towards certain situations. If you love your dog and you want a companion not a puppet please save yourself thousands of dollars and years of heartache by researching training methods that will work and create a loving and healthy relationship between you and your pup.
