Joey Luke's Dog Training

We are very happy with the improvements in both our dogs behavior after they did a board and train with Joey Luke's Dog Training. My stubborn Newfie and overly energetic Lab are both so much better behaved and we can take them on walks without stressing about them pulling us down the street or being tripped by the lab, who used to dart back and forth in front of us. Before training, I was embarrassed by their behavior out in public, and now I get compliments on what good dogs they are.

Joey was great to work with us and our dog. He helped us reinforce the basics and extend to solid obedience training for our 3 year old lab. Our lab has been through a few training programs over the years, but nothing seemed to fully work. Our dog has picked up on Joey’s balanced training extremely quickly and is doing an amazing job. Joey is knowledgeable, kind, flexible, and meets the dog/owners where they are at. We are so happy with the results and new tools we have to help our lab be able to join us in many new environments while being confident he’ll be obedient with distractions.

Originally, we took our Belgian Malinois, Tibbers, to another trainer for an evaluation. Tibbers would not even let the trainer near him and ended up with an E-collar on and cranked up high so the trainer could attempt to work with him. It did nothing but scare our pup and leave us feeling hopeless. We ended up getting a hold of Joey Luke and had a completely different experience right from the start. Tibbers was reactive to strangers and towards other dogs. Almost immediately Joey determined that he was reacting out to fear and was very patient with him. By the end of the evaluation Tibbers was already getting more comfortable with Joey. We signed up for the "Kitchen Sink" package and started having lessons in our home the next week. Joey quickly gained Tibbers' trust and was able to work with him (not just direct us) during the first lesson. Every lesson focused on us being able to train, make corrections, and build on what we had previously worked on/practiced since the last lesson. Whenever I did not seem very confident in something, Joey would make sure I understood what we were doing and that I was comfortable with it. At the start of lessons I had stopped walking our dog because he would lunge at other dogs and bark at strangers even that were far away. He even took me off my feet trying to get to another dog in a backyard. Very quickly into the lesson program, we had a dog that was enjoyable to walk. Included in the package, we also got to send Tibbers to stay for a one week board and train. We just went out of town so Tibbers just spent a week with Joey and his team. It was nice to know our dog was with someone we trusted and making more progress with his training and socialization. Last weekend we even took him to our first group class with Joey and his team. I never would of thought we would be able to be so close around other dogs. We still have work to do. He's not 100% there yet (though greatly improved), but we have the tools, knowledge, confidence, and support to keep getting better.  I am so glad things did not work out with the first trainer, and we found Joey Luke's Dog Training. He really loves what he does and it shows.

I recently completed Joey Luke's Pro-Training program. Not only does he know dogs, he knows people and how they interact. Joey works with you on what you want to achieve as I wanted myself and my sister's dog trained together. Both were pups with totally different personalities. He knew if one was tired, scared, or just being stubborn. Joey provided whatever supplies we needed, trained us how to use them and we can continue to train as we have the equipment to use. He kept his sense of humor as these two old gals were learning. The BEST he had us video tape most of his lessons so we will always have this resource to review. I highly recommend his services as he has been the best I've ever worked with.
