Jax Dog Drop Riverdog

Unfortunately their training camp did not work out for my dog. The communication was terrible and what I was told was never consistent. It was also almost impossible to get ahold of a trainer after starting the program. It was SO incredibly loud inside with dogs barking nonstop that I couldn’t even barely hear myself when talking to the staff. They say it’s only like this at drop off and pickup, but if they are taking dogs in and out of the kennels to train all day, the dogs must be barking at them the same as when they take them out to be picked up/etc. also, how is this training them to behave with allowing them to bark like that? Day 1, I received a report card that said “she was pretty shy at first but quickly warmed up and became very bouncy and silly”. The workers there when you pick your dog up don’t know what the trainers did with your dog that day so I was told they give these report cards out everyday. My dog started barking and acting timid after day 1 which was unlike her. Day 2, I asked if they had a report card/how she did that day and the lady there did not know and said the trainers don’t get around to filling those out and to expect them about 1/week. I assumed my dog was doing great and warming up to the environment there. I forgot to ask in person, so I sent a message in the Jax app that I was charged less than agreed upon and wanted to make sure I paid for everything. At this point, my dog is still acting different after I picked her up and I’m a little concerned but thinking it might take time to adjust to training camp. Day 3, I receive a message response at 3:56pm from a trainer saying that my dog “was pretty nervous and is still pretty nervous” and that training was taking a lot longer and they had not started the e-collar since she was so nervous and that’s why I was charged less. (Still not sure why I was charged $1999.00 instead of $1849.00 for the base rate tho). This entire time I had assumed my dog was doing ok and the trainer waited until the end of the day to reach out via the app chat not even by phone. They said we could talk about this on Fri at the 1hr appt at the end of the week. I said I’d like to discuss this over the phone please and asked for them to call me. Then I called the Jax number (which there are no options to speak to someone in training besides selecting 1 for reservations and asking them to transfer you which good luck if they pick up). On the phone I asked if the trainer could call me asap since my dog was not just shy but nervous and with it being day 3, I did not want to wait 2 more days to speak to the trainer. The lady said they would call me back asap. I didn’t hear anything for 15 mins so I left my doctors appt and drove over there hoping to catch the trainer before they left. I arrived and right after the front desk lady went to go find the trainer, I received a response in the chat saying the one trainer was gone for the day and asked if they could call me the next day. The other trainer came out and immediately started updating me on how nervous my dog was and that they could only do about 15 mins of training with her in a day before she would basically be too nervous to do anything. I wonder if they just left her in the kennel all day if that’s all the training she was getting (After we left, my dog peed for a very long time outside making me think she had to hold it in all day). After speaking to the trainer she said she felt that 1x1 sessions would suit my dog better and they could give me a credit to put towards 1x1 sessions OR receive a refund and go elsewhere. I asked if I could think on it and ended up letting them know I was going to accept the full refund. Then they said per their policy they can’t refund the 3 days of training my dog was there (um you said you were unable to train my dog because she was SO scared?!) and that in order to avoid conflict they would give me a 1 time courtesy of a full refund. This place is unprofessional, poorly communicates, and had some unfriendly staff. I would avoid this place and save your time/$.

Love, love, love this second home to LucyRose. The staff at Jax are so helpful, positive, and awesome with the “doggy manners” (can I just say “excited peeing”). Our first training experience was with Tyli, who with her gentle expertise set us up with a life time enthusiasm for Jax Dog Drop. Our next experience with Leah affirmed our decision to remain. If not for Jax, my life with Lucy might not have gone so well, she is gentle, but an extremely willful Newfoundland—in fact I might have lost hope and been one of those pets being led around by their furry companion; wait, this still sometimes happens, we are sooo not done with training. The Jax facility is prepared, spacious, clean and welcoming!
