Working in a real world environment and learning the necessary skills to better me as a handler and my dog was so great! I have used HumaneK9 Dog training since 2011, with two different dogs. We’ve done therapy dog training, real world training, first aid, tricks, agility, and obedience at multiple levels. We’ve done classes and private training sessions. One of my dogs was training to be a therapy dog and the other has severe fear, anxiety, and reactivity issues. Marni Bellavia has been instrumental in training them both. Though my dogs are very different from each other, the force-free, positive reinforcement training that Marni teaches has applied to them both, and the results go far beyond my original expectations. Not only are my dogs well behaved and trained, but I also have bonds with them like I’ve never had with other dogs before. The training also trained me! I’ve learned a tremendous amount about dog behavior and body language, and I’ve grown more compassionate and patient as a human being. I have learned to meet my animals where they are, be a responsible dog owner, and give my dogs the happiest and most comfortable lives possible. Marni is absolutely fabulous! She really understands how a dog’s mind works and is very thorough in teaching us how to reinforce the behavior we want from our Aussie puppy. Our dog LOVES her and really responds to her loving approach with him. We were concerned about how he would do for Thanksgiving with 21 people in the home, and with her guidance ahead of time, he did great-no jumping at all!! I highly recommend Marni’s group classes as well, as they have been very beneficial in teaching our dog how to behave appropriately in multiple settings and situations. If I could give her more than 5 stars, I would!

Fun and Real Skills! Marni at HumaneK9 Dog Training has worked with my husband and me with our 2 Shelties. We started with agility foundations (with Cara & Marni) which our girls just love! It makes them think, focus and have real fun! We’ve also done an aquatics class with Marni! My 2 1/2 year old had been very nervous in water and I really wanted her to be more comfortable around water. Last summer we took Marni’s aquatics class- she suggested life jackets for added security- make them feel more safe (what a difference it made!). Marni worked on helping Addie to, willingly, get in the water. Over the weeks, Addie grew less and less nervous and even started to have a little fun. Meanwhile, since we were going, we also took our 2-3 month old puppy, Shaeleigh. She learned early on, before becoming fearful, to be comfortable in the water. We can now go to the beach and they both willingly play in the shallow water for hours and sometimes even swim into the water to join me! In spring of 2020, Marni tested Addie & Addie earned her first two AKC titles, Trick Dog- novice and Trick Dog- intermediate! In summer 2020, we joined Marni’s Puppy Class and Shaeleigh earned her first AKC title, Star Puppy! We’ve also done work with Addie’s reactivity to people and cars (outside and from inside looking out the windows). We have seen great improvement in this area! When outside on her leash, Addie will now, usually, sit and watch a car drive past her without barking at it or trying to chase it! We have worked so hard on this as it is a life-saving skill that hopefully would help if she ever got loose. The skills Marni teaches are so important and can be used through different aspects of life with a dog.

I have been training with Marni for over 10 years. I cannot say enough about how she has helped me with my dogs over the years. Most recently, she has been crucial in the training of my young, energetic Australian Shepherd. Through a series of different obedience classes and Humane K9's signature Real World Training class, Willow has exceeded my expectations when it comes to the real world. I entered my first Rally Obedience trial last month and not only was my dog connected with me, she also spent hours crated while waiting for our turn on both days. Yesterday we were entered in a Barn Hunt trial 2 hours from home. It was a long day to say the least. She was crated all day while I worked and we waited for our turn. There was so much noise with the hustle and bustle of people walking and dogs walking past her crate and dogs barking and whining. She was amazing. Not a peep from her. She was not stressed at all. She was content watching me work and the comings and goings throughout the day. Now I realize not everyone is interested in trialing with your dog but what about other real life situations? We live in Florida where hurricanes and tornados are common. Your dog may need to be crated for long periods of time during and after a storm. How about a vet visit. Now with Covid rules, you cannot go in the clinic or emergency hospital with your dog. The proper training is essential for the well being of your dog in real life situations. I highly recommend Marni Bellavia whether it is for private training sessions or group classes. There are a variety of different types of training courses to choose from.
