Before finding this dog training facility, I honestly didn’t know if things would ever get better. My dog had serious issues with both people and other dogs—he was reactive, aggressive, and unpredictable, even with members of my own household. Fast forward to now, and he’s a completely different dog. He’s earned his Canine Good Citizen title, and people constantly stop me to compliment how well-behaved he is. Men, women, children—even the elderly—can pet him without a second thought. It's like having a new lease on life with him. I chose the DIY program, and I couldn’t believe how doable and empowering it was. For those with tighter schedules, there’s also a board and train option, but either way, Josh and Kennedy have created something special. They're not only incredibly knowledgeable, but they're passionate about what they do, and somehow they make training fun. The biggest change? My dog now looks to me for direction. I’ve unlocked the ability to take him anywhere. Parks, patios, trails—he’s right there with me, calm and confident. Our relationship has completely transformed. He’s not just tolerable now—he’s a sweet boy that everyone genuinely loves to be around. If you’re on the fence, let me say this: if you’re ready to get control and do the things you’ve always wanted to do with your dog, Josh and Kennedy can figure it out. We came to Houston DogWorks after having several experiences with other dog trainers that taught basic commands but did not yield the results we were looking for. We were drawn in by the behavior based approach; they do not use treats or shock collars. We went for the self train option instead of board and train so that we could learn along with the dogs. You have to be willing to put in the time, but it is definitely worth it. Josh and Kennedy are extremely knowledgeable and will work with you to help you and your dog succeed. Overall, we have had a great experience at Houston DogWorks.

We have worked with Josh at Houston Dog Works for almost 2 years now, and have made great strides with both Obedience and Field Work with our Large Munsterlander, Vesper. With a Versatile Hunting Dog, it can be tough to find people with experience working Pointing Breeds, but Josh is an excellent asset for those in the Houston Metro. As a first time handler, Josh spent as much time and attention teaching us, as he did our pup. Having gone through Puppy Training, Board & Train, Obedience, Group Classes, and currently Force Fetch, I can certainly say that Josh has helped us build up our little puppy into a lovely working dog.
