Houndstooth Training

We’ve been really impressed with Olivia. We thought our dog Toro was untrainable and sent him to her in a last ditch effort to straighten out the impulse control and other unwanted behaviors. We opted to do the full service dog training and Toro came back a completely different dog; on top of that, she has helped us learn how to properly use an e-collar. We also started sending Toro to Olivia for boarding when leaving town. We have been delighted to see him practicing everything he learned with Olivia while we are away. This is incredibly reassuring to know and such an added benefit when becoming a part of this ‘family’ as compared to boarding him locally or otherwise. Lastly, we’re based in NYC—a bit of a ways away from where Houndstooth is located—and it has been really helpful to have Emee in the city and available as a resource for questions, or to help us make sure Toto doesn’t backslide due to handler error. I had my puppy Blue service dog certified by Houndstooth Training and I cannot thank them enough for all they’ve done for him. I was very hesitant to send him off for that long, but it was worth the wait and the money I spent. The property is absolutely stunning, and the trainers are all loving & caring towards all of the dogs. Knowing that made me feel better about the decision to send him off. Emilee is incredibly sweet and patient and really helped me with all my questions, concerns & needs throughout the whole process. Blue has been an absolute angel since the training. I get stopped all the time by people praising his good behavior. He is very popular in my building with all the tenants as “the most behaved puppy they’ve ever seen.” Living in a small apartment and working in NYC, raising a puppy can be very hectic no matter how well prepared you think you may be. I wanted to provide Blue with all the tools necessary to thrive in this hectic city lifestyle. Part of his training was also done in NYC. They brought him to restaurants/stores & beyond and made sure he acted accordingly. Nothing worse than an unruly dog on the streets. Emilee also took him on a flight to NC as part of his training. She send me videos of the whole process from security check point to boarding. I can go on forever about my positive experience with Houndstooth Training, but I will spare you the essay. If you want your dog trained, this is the place! Forever grateful to the whole team at Houndstooth.

We rescued a terrier mix almost 6 years ago…and he came with the usual bad habits (poor on the leash, reactive towards kids, etc). We gave our furbaby to Olivia and Houndstooth for 5 weeks and he came back a new pup! Happy, no anxiety, great on the leash and non-reactive. A miracle? Maybe…but that’s what we paid for and what Olivia delivered. We love this dog more than anything and Olivia not only met but far exceeded our expectations. We now board Monty with Houndstooth, also. I was so nervous to send my girl to training, but Bella was in the BEST hands at Houndstooth. After completing her service training at Houndstooth, Bella is the most confident, calm, and eager to work I’ve ever seen her! I didn’t think Bella and I could possibly be closer but after the task training she did with Olivia & Emilee, I feel closer to her than ever. I can’t recommend Houndstooth enough! Olivia and Emilee are truly amazing & go above and beyond for the pups and their clients!
