Highland Canine Training, LLC

Ordered a Klimb on April 5th. Checkout stated transit time is 3 business days. Even though I planned for this to arrive prior to heading out of state, the order did not arrive until April 14th - after I left. So now I've paid shipping costs and will either have to pay somebody to go and pick it up or hope it is there when I return. Company had no solution and said I would have to dispute it with USPS. Other companies I've ordered from have put in claim issues as the shipper. This was an expensive mistake.

We are beyond grateful for our experience with Highland Canine Service Dogs. We started this process well over a year ago and really didn't know where to begin. Deb was so supportive and walked us through every single step. Our daughter's service dog, Rocky was delivered last week and we were blown away by the professionalism, love, patience, and care that Trinity put into every single part of the delivery and training. She is phenomenal and truly cares about what she is doing. We couldn't have asked for a better experience and highly recommend Highland Canine!

This place scammed my son and I out of a service dog after 3 years. I posted on other forums and have been contacted via those forums by several individuals that have horror stories as a student or former employee of Highland. It’s really disappointing to hear that there is a toxic undertone in their various experiences with Highland. Not only has our(my son and myself) experience traumatized us because the dog was cancelled the day before delivery with no valid explanation despite requesting one several times—but there is also the financial burden to pay for legal counsel and the time I spent to apply to their program, be put on their waiting list and then send the videos, personal information, doctors notes, IEPS etc etc…AND a trip to NC that now amplifies that heartache. An important lesson for me that haunts me is sending them videos of my son in vulnerable states as they require. I wish I had not done that-it kind of freaks me out I gave them access to so much of our life & my sons private vulnerabilities. The owner also made several false statements to police when I reported his actions—blatantly false. I suggest that anyone dealing with this company RECORD, document & keep EVERYTHING. I am so glad I did so, especially a recording with the trainer since everything Jason(the owner) told the police is contradicted by my zoom recording with the trainer. The miscommunication with Highland is horrendous. They switched out dogs on us 3 times without communication about the switch ups, then gave conflicting information about training and conflicting birthdates of one of the dogs followed by a sick attempt to gaslight us—-has been a nightmare!

It appears my review was removed, so I'll re-write it here. My son was scammed out of a service dog from Highland after 3 years. We went through the entire application process, which was grueling and took at least 100 hours or more just to gather the required information, IEPs, therapy notes, doctor notes, letters of recommendation, activity logs and on and on. I paid a down payment, then was offered a grant from a family that had previously received a dog from Highland to pay the remainder and help with the costs to travel to Highland. Jason Perguson cancelled the day before delivery of our dog with no explanation other than I am too busy with law school and because my sister was just diagnosed with cancer. This is after flying to NC to match with a dog that later failed out without them telling me, then 2 additional dog switchouts, again, no communication. The third dog was just randomly assigned out of the blue without them ever relaying to me the difficulties with the second dog. Then they gave me two birthdates for the third dog. The second dog is now for sale on their website as a narcotics dog and the third dog I have been told is very aggressive and is being trained as a search and rescue dog--so unlikely they were ever training him as a service dog--or they just randomly switch out their dogs into different training programs, which seems shady, too. Jason was rude and nasty to me when he cancelled the dog, did not explain why he cancelled the dog and then never replied to any requests for explanation. I have an abundance of proof of a lack of communication while I felt I was at their mercy after they received my money and the money from the family who donated toward my son's dog and after working with them for 3 years. It was a complete scam. It conveniently appears that there are SEVERAL positive google reviews on here from others just since I filed a lawsuit(hmmm?) and they are going back and replying to google reviews from years ago--reminds me of once getting offered a gift card for posting a google review. Weirdly, these abundance of positive reviews while mine gets deleted. Lame and desperate. Highland did not respond to my requests for a mediation nor my lawyers request back in December to deliver the dog nor the lawsuit. He has also lied to the press, as I did an interview for Queen City News. It seems appearances are more important to Highland than ethical behavior. I would highly recommend other service dog providers. Also, if you have been screwed over by Highland or any Service dog provider, check if they are associated with IACP(International Association of Canine Professionals) and make an ethics complaint. Also, report these type of businesses to the state Attorney General and the DOJ office of civil rights in your state. If you have provided any pics of your kiddo or videos of your child in vulnerable behavioral episodes as is required by many Service Dog organizations, consider filing a police report or CPS report. So many weirdos and pervs out there that take advantage of vulnerable children. Disabled and vulnerable individuals should not have to endure being abused or gaslighted in this manner! I doubt that myself and my son are the only victims of their emotional and financial abuse. I have heard from former employees and several former students who have had horrific experiences dealing with Jason and have described a toxic environment at Highland. I want to make sure that this does not happen to any other little boy or anyone at all as it has been devastating for our family and my son is still affected by this. I really look forward to our day in court so I can show the lack of integrity and unprofessionalism of this organization.
