Mary has been an amazing resources for our family! We adopted a 10 month old dog in June of 2020. He appeared to settle into our family quickly but was constantly on alert in our environment. After about 2 months his anxious personality became more evident and his fearfulness lead to his lunging and barking aggressively at strangers, especially ones that came to our house. We felt blindsided by his change and needed help for him quick!! Mary was there with her expertise and showed us how to help him work through his fear of strangers. Through training, medications and patience he is more calm, has little to no accidents and is generally less triggered by sounds in our environment. I called upon Mary Huntsberry 2 times! First, when my cockapoo was a few months old, we noticed she was exhibiting signs of puppy possession and aggression when we would try to take items aware from her. We were recommended to give Mary a call and it was truly helpful. We met with Mary over zoom due to the pandemic. She explained to us how our behavior with our pup needed to change and how we needed to offer our puppy other rewarding items that would snap our puppy out of the mindset she was in. It took some practice, but we saw results and found that we were all existing in a much happier state after receiving Mary's guidance. The second time we called upon Mary was for our puppy's excited behavior at night which was becoming an issue when my kids were doing homework or when my husband and I were trying to complete our days. We met with Mary again over zoom. Mary taught us tricks and provided us guidance on how to explain to the puppy that now is not a good time. This guidance was highly valuable and aided us in having greater peace at night when we needed it. I would highly recommend using Mary Huntsberry if you are feeling like your dog is in control and need to shift dynamics with your pup.

Mary is fantastic! I adopted Scout who had been abandoned and was afraid of everything including doors, opening soda cans, and most noises. When walking him, he pulled and knocked me off my feet. When he saw a dog, even way down the street, he went crazy. I met with Mary who had developed a behavioral plan for Scott. She is a miracle worker! In 3 months time, Scott was going in and out of doors with no trouble. For the first time in the year I had him, he was wagging his tail and being cuddly. He was a new dog. As for walking, OMG! There is no pulling now and when he sees another animal, he looks at it and moves on. I cannot believe the positive changes in Scott. Even my family and friends have noticed the difference. Mary's approach was to determine what triggered Scout and to teach me (and him) what to do before the trigger resulted in a negative reaction. Mary was always positive and upbeat with Scout and always treated him with kindness. I highly recommended anyone who is having behavioral issues with their animals, to contact Mary. We’re able to do things I never thought possible. I think Mary swapped my dog with a better behaved pup when I wasn’t looking!! With Mary’s help, our dog is less reactive on leash. He can calmly ride on an elevator WITH other people. I really never thought I’d be able to do that again. His tolerance for situations that make him nervous has greatly improved. Mary works with both the human and the dog, explaining some reasons for behavior problems and clearly demonstrating exercises and handling techniques that build both my confidence and my dog’s trust. I have seen an improvement in his behavior on leash, and her training works. Her advice on changes to make around the house to help him be more calm and avoid triggers has also helped. I appreciate that virtual and in-person sessions are an option, and each are helpful in their own way. I felt like Mary really listened and reviewed the information we provided at intake, and she returned a lot of incredibly helpful information tailored to my dog’s needs. You have to be willing to consistently work with your dog, but once you make that commitment, you too may see a whole new, happier pup!
