My husband and I jumped into our first venture into parenthood and got a 12-week old puppy! Neither of us had ever owned a pet before. We consulted friends, religiously watched training youtube videos, read 3 books on positive training in preparation. Still, the first week we brought our little guy home was utter chaos. Everything we studied assumed perfect and optimistic scenarios that were downright unrealistic. We hired HD shortly after realizing we were in over our heads. We worked with the owner, Rob, directly after signing up for the 8-week course. His skill and knowledge around dogs and training are unbeatable. Each week we got together and he created a lesson that was catered to OUR needs. Every dog is different and every owner has different worries. HD has a great understanding of this and therefore our lessons were catered specifically towards us and our puppy. With the help of HD we were able to teach our puppy basic commands like crate, sit, and down within the first month! HD also helped us with managing and redirecting behavioral issues, like dragging us by the leash and eating everything off the ground when outside. HD went above and beyond just obedience training. They set us and our puppy up for a long, happy, and healthy life by teaching me and my husband how to communicate with our dog and how to read what our dog is trying to communicate to us. On top of that they also provide great guidance and advice on everything dog related like what kinds of treats to buy, what kind of toys to avoid, etc. Having a puppy is stressful and isolating if you don’t have the right support system. HD was able to provide us with that support and greatly reduced our stress and anxiety. If you’re looking for answers to all your questions that your books never addressed, HD is the place to go. We are definitely customers for life and will continue with one-off lessons. Not because our puppy needs them, but because we want to continue learning how to provide the best life for our puppy.

The decision to work with HD for the 8-week session was the absolute best decision my wife and I have made in the process of raising our puppy. We worked directly with Rob at our home, who goes so much further than just obedience, commands, potty training help, etc. While he has taught our pup masterfully in those areas, he also treats our pup with the same amount of love and care as if our pup was his own. All of Rob’s actions throughout the training process indicate that he cares deeply about our pup’s physical and emotional well-being, which has played a huge role and helping our pup be as happy and well-adjusted to domestic life as possible. In addition, Rob is always extremely responsive to questions and supportive outside of just the weekly hour-long sessions. We also received attention and support from other members of the team at HD, who approached our pup with the same amount of care and attention. My wife and I will continue to work with Rob and the team beyond the initial 8-week package. We’ll also participate in the facilitated group-walks as often as possible to continue to help with socialization. If you care about your dog’s happiness, well-being, and ability to adjust to domestic life, work with the people at HD.

When we first came to HD, my wife and I were at a crossroads with our adopted former stray Waffles; we loved him, but weren’t sure if we were the right home for him. Rob and the team HD showed us how we could become that home. We’ve made and are continuing to make so much progress with our pup, who went from being unpredictable with biting and trust issues to being a lovable, sweet little guy who can’t get enough pets! Rob is a fantastic trainer who has an incredible intuition for a dog’s mentality and we would happily recommend HD to anyone. We can’t thank them enough for how far they’ve taken Waffles and us!
