Greenside Canine Training

Greenside Canine was unlike any other training experience my wife and I have been through! We’ve worked with other popular trainers in the area and had no success until we found Clay. Our dog struggled with how over excited he got when seeing anyone! This would lead to lots of jumping and nipping and knocking our child over at times! The Greenside team tailored the training to our needs and we couldn’t be happier! We did the 4 week board and train program and received updates on our dog during his stay and even got training for ourselves. I can’t believe we used to take our dogs to warehouse dungeons before! If you have a dog in need of high-quality training, we highly recommend Greenside Canine! Jax and Ram are our two 4-year-old Belgian Malinois that we got as 8-week-old puppies in 2020. They share the same birthdate but are from two different breeders. We sent both dogs to several training and socialization classes elsewhere during their first year of life and for the most part, they did fine with other dogs and people at these classes. I say for the most part because they had a tendency to “herd” the other puppies around in the classes, on occasion barking and nipping at the other dogs. But all were puppies so this playing was somewhat expected, and a Belgian Malinois is a herding dog by nature. After the first year of almost weekly training and socialization classes ended, Jax and Ram received very little interaction with people or animals outside our immediate family. Consequently, whatever socialization skills they developed in the first year of life were long gone by year 3. And they grew from cute little puppies to 80–90-pound dogs. Think of a snarling and barking police dog. Before the 6-week Board and Train at Greenside, Jax and Ram were not doing well around other people or dogs. Our issues ranged from the stampede to the door when someone came to the door to their inability to come when called, etc. etc. We mistakenly thought one of our dogs was an aggressive dog and learned from Clay and his team that this dog is actually reactive and responds well to positive reinforcement not punishment for bad behavior. We had issues such as the mad dash to escape their crates and run us down in the process. Now they quietly leave their crates. Something I never would have believed was possible. With Clay’s guidance we have learned how to condition them not to bolt for the front door when they hear the doorbell. When I call them now, they actually come. One of our dogs was so reactive to anything happening outside our vehicle that I (Judy) always feared being left alone with him in the truck. Clay, Sydni, and Mary not only trained our dogs, but they trained us as well in what we need to be doing to give ourselves and our dogs their best lives. When we dropped Jax and Ram off for their 6-week training it took two slip leads and two trainers for each dog to successfully get them away from us and into the Greenside facility. They were barking, snarling, and resisting. When we picked them up 6 weeks later, they were eating out of these same trainers’ hands. The transformation was amazing! Big thanks to Clay and his team!

Professional, polite, dedicated and talented are just a few of the words that come to mind when thinking of Clay and the way he trains. The amount of time and dedication he puts into everything he does is inspiring to his peers and clients. I have had several opportunities to have my dog trained by Clay, each time better than the last. One of the things that most influenced my decisions to work with Clay is knowing he is a Veteran and the core moral values that he still upholds; it shines through and through in all he does and the way he runs his business.
