I have known Nancy both professionally and personally for years and I highly recommend her! Nancy has a natural way with dogs of all ages, behaviors and abilities. Nancy is amazing and Gooddogz is ALWAYS my first recommendation for someone looking for an excellent dog trainer. I have been amazed at Nancy’s skill and abilities when it comes to training in some of the most challenging situations as well has just training dogs to be Good dogs :). Five stars are not enough. In June, 2020, Nancy Freedman-Smith's puppy classes got our Cardigan corgi Walter (now a grand champion who has great fun in Rally and scent work, too), formally known as GCH Vestavia With a Song in My Heart. Nancy has been a part of Walter's training from puppy class through adolescent classes, tricks classes, CGC, CGC-A, CGC-U, and much more. And most recently, our Parker, also a Cardigan corgi, (Vestavia Wyncrest Matters of the Heart) off to a great start in puppy class. More "Nancy-class-time" is always in the cards because the fun goes on and on. The more we ldo with our dogs, the stronger our bond with them. Although I am an experienced dog handler and amateur trainer, I always learn new things from Nancy as she approaches all the dog-handler teams in her classes as individuals. Nancy promotes the value of a positive, supportive, and respectful relationship between dog and handler and supports me when I say that my dog isn't ready for a given exercise or that we may need to just sit out and chill while my dog absorbs what he has just done. She reads dogs' emotions, body language, and behaviors and, whether in a routine class such as puppy of Foundations or in outdoor training classes and situations while delivering easy-to-follw tips to help me help my dogs understand what I want them to do. Nancy has given my dogs the foundation to achieve what they've achieved so far and continues to build on that as they go on to having ever more fun in all the stuff we do together.
