We decided to look into getting some professional help in training our two dogs after our first baby was born. We were having problems with the dogs running out the front door when it was opened, jumping and barking at visitors, and pulling and barking at dogs and people on walks. We were able to do live personalized online one-on-one dog training and for us it worked perfectly. We worked with Johanna to set up a schedule that worked with us and she was very accommodating and flexible. We were a little hesitant of doing the live online classes but it turned out really well because Johanna was able to see the dogs in their everyday state and work with us from there. We came away from the trainings learning a lot of what to do to deal with not only our current problems we had but also new ones that might arise. She was able to really teach us, as dog parents, on what to do and look for when training our dogs and how to get them into a state that they can learn in. We are already able to get our dogs attention and settled down when the door is open and visitors are over and walks are much more enjoyable and easy going.

I just finished the online dream dog program with Johanna and I couldn't be happier with the results. During this program we did personalized online live sessions. This allowed me to train my dog in the comfort of my own home and to create a program that is completely unique and custom. Going into this program, my dog Milly was terrified of absolutely everything. This led to a bunch of problems, one of the biggest was her having zero treat or food motivation. If she was stressed at all she just wouldn't eat, even if it was a huge strip of bacon or a glob or peanut butter. Now she is the absolute opposite. She is food motivated, curious, and extremely well behaved. I think the biggest key to success during this process was Johanna's ability to tell me what was going on with my dog, as well as giving me the tools to do it on my own. I was truly shocked at how much progress I was able to make with Milly, with the tools that I was given. I brought Milly to visit my family about halfway into our sessions and they were absolutely blown away. I'd recommend this to anybody and everybody that needs help with their dog. Trust me, with the problems that Milly had, you and your dog WILL benefit greatly from this.

My dog Layla was very reactive on leash to dogs, kids, cats, you name it. She needed at least 2 blocks between her and her triggers to not react, which was not feasible while living in an apartment in a city. Alyssa gained her trust within minutes. She taught me strategies that I would not have been able to find with simple internet research and with purely positive reinforcement we were able to get her to mostly not react to her triggers when they were as close as across the street. I cannot recommend four legged scholars highly enough, they gave me the tools and confidence as a handler that I needed to avoid needing to rehome my pup to a better environment and instead work through her fears.

Johanna was so great to work with! We recently adopted a 4-year-old pitbull mix, and we were having trouble with leash walking and getting her into the car. We decided to try online training with Johanna, and it was one of the best decisions we've ever made for our new family member! Thank you, Johanna!

UPDATE: I got to experience working with Four Legged Scholars again. And again it was well worth while. My dog Ben and I struggled with going for walks. We used video chat with Johanna during the Covid-19 quarantine instead of meeting face to face and in all honesty it was better than it would have been otherwise. All the video conversations were sent to me to review later if I forgot something. I would suggest making sure you have at least 9 ft of space in front of whatever camera you're using so you can work on the techniques with her watching and giving feedback. Original Post: I just finished a beginner's training course with my dog. He is super anxious and struggles with being near other dogs. Alyssa was very helpful and professional. She put up a little barrier and taught me some techniques to help calm him. By the third class we didn't even need the barriers anymore. My dog ended up doing well and we walked away with not only basic training knowlede but a plan to further help him with his anxiety in the future. I highly recommend FLS especially if you think you have a dog that there's no hope for. Thanks Alyssa!
