FitHound Puppy & Dog Training

Cari is wonderful. I have trained with her for the last 4 years. She is highly qualified as a trainer, having certified both as a CPDT-KA (Certified Professional Dog Trainer, Knowledge Assessed) and a CNWI (Certified Nose Work Instructor). I work with her in Canine Nose Work and she has been an excellent teacher, very patient and knowledgeable about all aspects of Nose Work. In addition, she understands canine behavior and is a positive (force-free) trainer. She is well versed in dog behavior, and hsas been helpful to me, since my dog has had fear aggression. From basic puppy classes to working with more challenging dogs, Cari is awesome!

Cari and Sue are both excellent trainers. My two dogs and I have had the pleasure of being students in four of Fithound's classes, two obedience and two noseworks. Our first class was Intro to Noseworks with Sue. My Coonhound, Raynor, had an absolute blast and would quite literally drag me through the door when it was his turn to run the room. I soon learned that noseworks was an excellent activity for less confident or even reactive dogs and signed both Raynor and my second dog, Tychus, up for Intro to Odor. Tychus is a bit timid and skittish. Since only one dog runs the room at a time the environment is low pressure which was perfect for him. It was fascinating to see how different dogs problem solved and worked the room. Raynor's enthusiasm for noseworks became a bit of a problem when it came to getting him from the car to the room. Not wanting to be yanked around we took two obedience classes with Cari and the results are night and day. He began as a dog who bayed the whole class, pulled excessively on leash, and couldn't settle to save his life. I had resigned to using a head halti thinking I would never be able to curb his pulling and avoided stimulation like the plague to evade a baying melt down. While he still has some trouble sitting still for long periods, he is no longer the class loud mouth and walks beautifully on a leash, his stays are pretty solid as well. I walked both dogs alone without trouble for the first time this week and it was fabulous. I never thought it would be possible. I now feel totally comfortable resuming noseworks without fear of injury and I owe it all to Cari. Needless to say, I highly recommend Fithound, their trainers are ethical, experienced and effective.
