First Choice Canine

We adopted a puppy and within a few weeks of having her realized we needed some help with her training. She would get overly excited when she saw dogs and people, would chase and bark at our 2 young kids and had no recall skills. I would take her to the beach and she would not be able to control her excitement and would pull on the leash the entire time barking and whining. After spending 5 weeks at first choice she is a complete different dog. She is so much better behaved in and outside of our home. I can take her to the beach without any issues and she no longer drags we the whole time! She is able to be around new dogs and stays calm and listens to my commands. I can’t recommend First Choice enough for anyone who is struggling with problems with their dogs. It has made our lives so much easier!!

Our newly adopted dog Leona had a few behavioral issues that I wasn’t sure how best to address. She was very reactive whenever she saw other dogs. Barking, lunging, thrashing on the leash, pulling always. I love bringing my dogs along with me, but I couldn’t take her anywhere, hardly even a walk in our neighborhood without frustration on my end, and anxiousness on hers. We decided to look into board and train because we wanted something more intensive to help her with confidence, expectations, boundaries, impulse control, communication between us, etc. Something to essentially “rehab” her and give us a strong foundation so that we can have endless adventures together for years to come. I was nervous to send her away to a stranger as I have heard some dog trainer horror stories but we felt confident with KB and the FCC team. Well, we have had Leona back home for a month, and I can confidently say that we are 100% glad we decided to send her! The dog we have back is still the same sweet, silly, loyal girl, but WOW she has transformed her public persona! The FCC team did such an incredible job in preparing her for things like trail walks, public places, being around other dogs, riding in the car, getting her nails trimmed, being around babies/children, walking on a short loose leash, and finally being off leash trained using the e collar. The training sessions following her stay were incredibly helpful for my husband and I to learn her language and make sure we have the tools to properly communicate with her. I’m so grateful that we decided to invest in our girl - our future together looks so bright!

I can't say enough good things about First Choice Canine! My husband and I recently had a baby and our pup's minor behavioral annoyances became exacerbated to the point where we couldn't function as a family. Our pup would destroy everything in the house, go crazy when anyone walked into the house, jump on people, and couldn't relax or sit still. In addition, she was jumping on our little one! I tried training in the past and it was not effective. I found First Choice Canine and after our initial consultation, we did the 5-week board and train. I was nervous about leaving her because many of the reviews I read seemed to be for bigger dogs and not a Frenchie, but I'm so happy we took the leap! My pup walks without a leash now, does not destroy anything, does not go after other dogs if we are walking, gets along with our baby and we know how to keep her anxiety under control. She is a joy to be with, no longer a burden and after several months, the training is still effective. The owner deeply cares about his work, is very professional, and has mastered his craft. We sent our 8 month old Rottweiler, Beans, here for the 6 week board and train as his behavior/obedience we getting out of hand. We realized a variety of issues such as leash tugging, fear, nipping, jumping, mounting, aggressive play, and, attacking another dog that all needed to be addressed. I felt uncomfortable bringing him around other people and other dogs as I had know idea how he was going to react anymore. We were hopeless that we were going to be able to control a well over 100lb dog and thought we were gonna have to give him up at one point. We were recommended First Choice Canine and we couldn’t be more happy that we found this place. KB as well as the other trainers are truly amazing. When we got him back we couldn’t believe the progress he had made, he is a completely changed dog. There is no more tugging on the leash, lunging towards other people or other dogs, jumping, nipping, etc. I now feel comfortable to bring him anywhere and he loves being pet by everyone wherever we go. Everyone always compliments how well trained/behaved he is. KB and his staff were always there if I had any questions or concerns throughout Beans stay and after we brought him home. Ashleigh would send us thorough weekly updates and photos letting us know his progress which was much appreciated. KB did a great job at making me feel comfortable and confident when training Beans and helped me in areas that I felt like I was struggling in. The groups classes are also a plus as it’s a great refresher and socialization tool for all the dogs. KB is definitely the best in the area and I would bring my dog back here in a heartbeat. Very grateful to have found this place. Thank you for everything you guys do and for giving Beans the confidence he needed! We continue to work with him everyday to make sure he never loses his progress!
