I wouldn't recommend. when trying to decide on a place to train our puppy we ended up with this place or petco as our top options. I wish we had chosen petco but my husband thought a smaller local place would be better. I quickly regretted our choice after the orientation class, but since we already paid had to go and thought maybe my instincts were wrong. I think they should let you go to orientation first and then if you decide this is the class for you, then you pay. If that were the case I wouldn't have gone back. Anyway, In orientation you are told to bring several different types of treats, a water bowl and a toy to distract your dog while carol 'teaches.' So for class one that's what I brought. My dog had no interest in the treats, the toys or me because there are 8-10 other dogs that he wants to meet and play with. So most of the class was me trying to keep him from barking or trying to play with the other dogs. Carol kept saying I didn't have the right treats. So the next class I had all different treats. Still my dog didnt care. I could have had steak and he would not have looked twice. He is a puppy and wanted to play with these new friends. Now I'm being told I have the wrong toy. So the next class i have more new treats (I swear I probably spent $70+ trying to find "the right treat") and a new toy stuffed with other treats and peanut butter. He STILL didnt care. Barking and jumping and wanting to play so then carol calls me out specifically to say "you have a toy he doesn't care about, a water bowl that's distracting him and all these treats, you need it to only be you so he pays attention!" Then she asked if I was offended. No I wasnt offended. Embarrassed and confused since I brought everything I was told to. It's hard enough coming to these classes knowing my dog will not be listening to me because he will want to play and bark the entire time, but then to be called out because my dog won't stop barking made me quit coming. I was there to teach my dog and instead I was made to feel like my dog was an annoyance, um ok, help me!! It's not like the classes were helpful anyway. Carol was impatient and easily frustrated. (I think if her assistant Laura taught the classes I would have had a better experience. she seems more patient and understanding.) Also she would not work on commands very long. I felt like maybe each class could have focused on 1 or 2 commands and you take that 1 hour to work on those. But instead she would have you try to make them sit 2 or 3 times and then move on to the next thing. Also maybe she could have come around to each dog once in a while and see how they are doing or give pointers on what you could do better or what you are doing that's right. Instead she spent a lot of time talking about what toys to buy, how to brush their teeth, and other random things to waste time. And during her talking we are all trying to just convince our dogs to sit and listen while they are surrounded by new smells and dogs. Maybe my expectations are different from the reality of what obedience school really is but I could have just gone online and figured out how to do this myself and saved $110. We have 3 other dogs at home so me spending time alone to train my puppy was hard. I did it when I could, but it would be nice to be able to use the hour in class away from home to actually work on training instead of making him sit there and listen to whatever it was that carol decided to talk about that day. In conclusion i did not go to the last 2 (of 5) classes and wouldn't recommend her to anyone. If Laura ever starts her own classes go to her.
