Dog Tags Training School LLC

We have only had a wonderfully trained older lab until a rescued little bitty puppy gave us puppy eyes. Dog Tags Training worked with us so that we learned how to teach our now dog to be a joyful, energetic, sociable dog we can trust to take to the farmers market, trails, outdoor eating areas and be a part of our family. We took the class twice and plan to take more advanced classes when they are offered.

I LOVE dog tags, everything about it including the instructors Carol and Laura. It is a blast and I look forward to the class every week and so does my dog. She knows when we drive into the parking lot where she is going and she gets so excited. I have a 2-1/2-year-old shorty Jack Russell. She has been taking classes regularly since she was 5 months old. She has learned SO much thanks to the guidance of Carol and Laura. We just keep going back. It is great for socialization with other dogs and owners and to reinforce all the work we do outside of class. Yes you have to do your homework. You must be willing to commit to working outside of class. Obedience is a work in progress and you have to work on it because a once a week class is not going to produce an obedient dog. I will continue to take classes as long as they offer them. I recommend them 100%. Come and join the fun, your dog will love it.

I have taken the Dog Tags classes for many years (beginner, intermediate, advanced), with 3 different dogs over that time. I have always found Carol to be patient, knowledgeable, and concerned about my dogs. My dogs have always enjoyed the classes. Carol has always answered my questions and provided advice when needed. Getting dogs to pay attention and behave during class is part of the training; the owner is usually more to blame for a "wild" dog or puppy during class than the dog/puppy (or trainer). Carol also provided, each week, practice exercises to do. Those are really important -- one can't expect to show up in class for an hour, ignore any reinforcement out of class, and have a well-trained dog. I plan on taking more classes with Carol!

Almost 4 years ago, we got a 6 month old Goldendoodle that was afraid of everything- trash cans, leaves, other dogs, you name it she was scared to death of it. Desperate, I signed up for our first beginner class at Dog Tags. Our first classes were hard for both of us. Sadie peed on the floor multiple times when other dogs or people approached. We stuck with it and Carol stuck with us. She provided a safe place for Sadie to gain confidence, and probably more importantly, me to gain confidence. By the end of the first round of class, Sadie started to blossom. We now have done multiple intermediate classes and Sadie got her Canine Good Citizen award last fall, all with Carol's guidance. We continue to sign up for each "semester"of available classes, knowing that we will continue to learn and have a great time with great people that all love dogs. Carol provides tools and guidance to mainly teach the people part of the team. It is all based on positive training. I find her classes to be upbeat and fun. Each class covers several skills, that then you can go home and practice. Repetition of the skills occurs throughout the class and once you learn the correct way to work with your dog, success happens. I have seen Carol take extra time to work through specific issues that a dog may be having. She also identifies and lets you know things to work on between classes. If your goal is to get your dog to be a well-mannered good citizen, Dog Tags is a great place to achieve this.
