I have never experienced anyone so phenomenal with dogs as Ricky Jones. He understood my dog Abbey and my relationship with her almost immediately. He helped me better understand my dogs needs and the actions she and I each needed to take to improve her behavior. Through Rickys approach and efforts, I can take Abbey anywhere. And, my relationship with her has grown even stronger. Everything he does and/or recommends involves positive reinforcement. Ricky has a true gift. He is absolutely an amazing dog trainer.

They call him Ricky "The Dog Whisperer" Jones (they don't but they should) and he's got a gift. The way he is able to gently command and influence and understand dogs is so impressive and remarkable it has to be seen to be believed and we are so grateful! We recently took in a very sweet, very anxious, very old and slightly neglected dog after the passing of a family member. He's been through a lot and has a heart condition amd we thought he was nearing the end- but after nursing him back to health a bit we realized that he's still got his prey drive and thinks his new cat brothers are snacks. Ricky assured us that we were on the right track, and gave us some really great insight into the wants/needs/minds of our little guy. The best part is knowing that we are giving our guy what he needs to feel comfortable and secure after such a tumultuous time in his poor little life. Our situation is difficult to the point of cliche, but he literally taught our old dog new tricks- in less than an hour. He immediately understood his ~vibe~ and I can only imagine what he can do with a young impressionable pup! Long story long, I can't possibly say enough good things and I feel so sure that using the tools he gave us we're on our way to getting that unlikely animal friends picture I so desperately want.

This trainer is not good if you own a reactive dog. Ricky did not show that he is knowledgeable on a dog that demonstrates on leash behaviors. I paid for two private sessions and he was more talk than showing me how I can handle my reactive dog. He even showed me a PowerPoint during one of the sessions that was frustrating to listen to. It took me having to tell him to bring one of his dogs out to show the severity of my dogs reactivity towards other dogs on leash for him to change what type of gear and toys I should buy my dog when I already purchased a ton of stuff that he recommended in the first session. Overall, he is a nice guy but does not fully understand reactive dogs and the work I wanted to do with my dog to make it easier as an owner in my living situation. He also does not apply techniques to owner who work and have lives and cannot be with their dog 24/7. I am extremely disappointed by his model of training and the advice and skills I was given to help my fearful dog.
