When we got our Belgian Malinois, EVERYONE warned us: “You know those dogs are basically tiny tornadoes with teeth, right?” 😂 Then every trainer I called gave me the same speech — “You got yourself a missile. This is going to be A LOT of dog.” Basically, everyone made me feel like we had just brought home a furry weapon of mass destruction. Then we found Delta K9 Trainers. They started working with him at just 8 weeks old, and now at 8 months, I can honestly say he is the BEST dog we have ever had. ZERO bad habits. He knows every basic command, is amazing in public, listens beautifully, and picks up new things within about 10 minutes. The scary Belgian Malinois “missile” everyone warned us about somehow turned into an absolute gentleman. These guys are incredibly professional, and I swear Alexis is some kind of dog whisperer. 😂 What I love most is that they don’t just train the dog — they train and tame ME, too, because apparently I’m half the problem. And whenever our dog is struggling to understand what we want, Alexis takes him for literally two minutes, does some kind of secret K9 voodoo, and hands me back a completely different dog who suddenly understands English, knows his responsibilities, and is ready to work. After that, it’s a walk in the park. If you want REAL professional trainers who actually make a difference and don’t just scare you with everything that could go wrong with your dog, Delta K9 is it. 10/10 recommend — especially if everyone has convinced you that you accidentally got a four-legged missile. 😂🐕💨

I contacted Delta K-9 after 2 sessions with a previous private trainer who I found too aggressive. Alexis, from Delta K-9, met my dog and within seconds said, “This dog is skiddish. We need to work on that first.” I was relieved and confident I’d made the right choice with Delta because here was a trainer taking my dog’s emotional needs into account and not just interested in skills to be checked off a chart. Alexis saw and was willing to work with the “whole dog” and we began with some skills to build my dog’s confidence. Alexis also met me where I was, which was very anxious and untrained as a dog owner. She was gentle and patient, explaining everything and constantly checking to see if I was confident to carry the skills demonstrated into “doggie homework” and practice at home. If I wasn’t, she continued to demonstrate and practice with me until I was ready. We worked to practice building Radar’s confidence, understanding and carrying out basic commands and training skills, even correcting my body language and voice tone. All of this was done in a repetitive, supportive and patient manner by Alexis. I never once felt criticized but encouraged to make improvements, practice more, and keep moving forward in our training. Radar and I worked diligently at home and outside on our “doggie homework” to both practice and refine the skills and behaviors we were both being taught. Alexis constantly checked in with me to see what, if any, concerns I might have about Radar and his behavior that she could assist with. It felt empowering to have this opportunity for input. I am more comfortable and confident when Radar and I are out in public, with strangers, with unfamiliar noises, in unfamiliar settings. I have been taught to look for signals in Radar’s body language and to use strategies to help him feel safe, calm, and therefore, better behaved. When we first started working with Alexis, our 1.5 year-old rescue dog Zoozve was a ball of anxiety and fearful/reactive with people. She was so nervous she'd often refuse to eat, and she'd be ferocious towards anyone besides us who came near her or near our house. Less than a year later, she is a totally different dog. She is so much more confident, she'll go up and sniff people's hands rather than try to bite them off. We can take her to restaurants and have her rest calmly under the table. At home, she eats her food and happily joins us on walks down the street that were previously terrifying for her. Along the way, she conquered fears of loud noises, umbrellas, new surfaces, tight spaces, and more. And we are so much more knowledgeable and confident now about how to handle her, and how to manage those situations that are still a challenge. From private sessions and bringing her team members to work with us in our home, to group sessions with other people and dogs out in public, Alexis gave us all the training and experience we and Zoozve could have hoped for.

Alexis and her team are amazing at what they do. I have an adorable, anxious Irishdoodle. His name is Cooper. Alexis and Ashley not only helped train him but they helped me learn how to sooth and decrease his anxiety. It honestly resulted in me being more calm as well. I originally got Cooper for my anxiety…turns out we both have it lol. Forever grateful to have work with the Delta K9 team. Thank you !

Very big shout out to Alexis and her troupe of trainers. She is very compassionate, empathetic and intuitive when it comes to dogs. We have been working with her for the past several months with our dog Poppy and can't be happier with the incredible results so far. Poppy has severe reactionary issues to humans but not dogs, so we've been working on getting her more people friendly. Poppy has come along way but she's a work in progress and will be for the foreseeable future. We are very grateful for all the Alexis has done for Poppy and for us. She trains you and the dogs so it's a win win for everyone. 5 stars and 110% worth the work and effort.
