FirstBarkMy rescue dog Lilly participated in basic obedience classes. Rachel and Matt made Lilly feel comfortable. They are extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and understanding of dogs' individual needs. Lilly is much more attentive now. Lilly and I are excited to continue our training sessions with Delightful Dogs: Dog Training.

Hi - Can an older dog be taught to come when you call them? It's our biggest concern with selecting a rescue.
Hi Robert, Thanks for this great question! There are many factors when working on recall, especially with an older dog, but, short answer, YES! Dogs of all ages can work on learning new skills and honing previously learned ones. The level of progress will depend on the dog and the level of work that is dedicated to training. Rachel has been working with our rescue puppy Tilly. She has given us many successful strategies to help with puppy behaviors that have worked. She is incredibly knowledgeable about dogs at all stages, providing us with activities to work on with visuals and videos (on her website) to support our learning at home. Tilly loves when she comes and responds well to Rachel.
More importantly than how much we like Rachel is how much our dogs love her!! Rachel has a very calm and nurturing way about her which is key for our nervous and fear reactive rescue dogs. They know that they can trust Rachel and their confidence is building with her guidance. We also trust her completely in our home which is invaluable. 5 Woofs for Rachel!!!
I can't say enough good things about Rachel - she's amazing with my verrry energetic dog Henry. He adores her! But she's also great to ME in terms with working with my schedule and sending tons of photos after walks :) I love knowing that Henry is safe and happy in her care.
Rachel is wonderful, very knowledgeable, easy to talk to and makes working with my dog fun again, way less stressful ! I look forward to our training sessions and I can’t say the same about a lot of trainers . She is really good at explaining things in a practical way . She works on fostering understanding and awareness with our pets to help strengthen the bond , not damage it 🤗❤️
