What can I say about Dan other than WOW. I had a called around to a few dog trainers and got nothing but rude, egotistical people on the phone UNTIL I called Bay Area Dog Trainer. Dan not only spoke to me in a respectful manor but took the time to explain what he would cover in his training. He explained that this would be more about training me and my wife than it would be about training the dog. And boy did he deliver! Our English Bulldog, Pancho, was unruly and not well mannered (putting it lightly) We decided to go for the 4 session package and after the education we got in the first session I was absolutely convinced this was going to be well worth the money. We just finished put forth session today and went from a dog that jumps on everyone, nips and doesn’t listen when called to a dog that has done a total 180! He listens, he is VERY close to being a fully off leash dog and best of all, our anxiety has been completely lifted thanks to Dan. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Bay Area Dog Trainer to anyone looking for help with their dogs behavior and can say that you will be surprised at what you learn no matter what your experience is handling pets as I have had two dogs prior to Pancho. Call Dan and see the difference for yourself!!

We have two French bulldogs: an unfortunately spoiled boy who we’ve had for 6 years and a 3 year old rescue from a puppy mill in Taiwan. These Frenchies having grown up in VERY different circumstances caused equally bad behavior when the new one entered our household. They both began resource guarding toys and treats and on multiple occasions this turned into all out brawls - super scary & impossible to break them up. One time it even sent us to the hospital where my husband had to get stitches because his wrist got in the way of breaking up a fight. We had countless terrifying situations, vet visits and we were emotionally drained. I didn’t want to give up the new frenchie because I felt we owed it to him to get proper training for both dogs and really try to work through it. In addition to all of that, we’d just found out we were pregnant with our first baby so we felt it was very important to get training. I googled dog trainers and called a bunch and was immediately impressed when I spoke to Dan. We set up our first training session and we learned SO much in that first session. We had absolutely spoiled our first dog and we didn’t realize how detrimental that truly was. We had a chance to try to correct that with our original dog and sort of start fresh with the new one. Dan taught us such valuable information and hands on learning. Every session came with great progress. This was important though - we had to do our homework! If we weren’t doing the work at home while Dan wasn’t there, the dogs were noticeably regressing in behavior and what we’d taught them. The dogs have definitely improved, they still have their moments, but we still have work to do! This is ongoing work - they are animals and need to practice so they continue to make progress. The best part is now we have a toolkit of resources and things we learned after we completed our sessions that we continue to use. In addition, Dan was always communicative via phone and text, reaching out to check on the progress and reminding us to stay in communication with him. Even though our sessions are over, he has reached out to check in and reminded us to let him know if we have additional questions, etc. Overall I’d highly recommend Dan! I noticed Dan has 1 negative review and I have to say, it sounds to me as if the people complaining were likely not doing the work on their own. They were sort of expecting him to come in and wave a magic wand and the dog would be miraculously trained after 4 sessions. That’s not how it works. If you have thousands of dollars and expect that sort of an outcome, you should seek some sort of a dog sleep away bootcamp and pray that it works. You have to be ready to put in the work, time and energy and stick to what you learn!

Dan dog training technique is absolutely amazing! I have a Siberian Husky, now 8 months old...started training with Dan at 4 months! He is an expert in behavioral training...I was struggling and becoming completely frustrated and had know idea what I gotten myself into....90% of the training, focused on training me. I was doing everything wrong, and had no understanding of how dogs think (first mistake). However, Dan came in and changed all of that within a matter of weeks...he uses basic learning theories....As long as you follow instructions and consistency with your fur baby, you will have 100% success. I went from fighting with my pup everyday to enjoying every bit of her company and companionship. Training never stops, its starts from the time we wake up to bed time...Dogs love structure just like children...I can’t thank Dan enough!
