When I adopted my dog toward the end of the pandemic, she seemed very well-trained but had a few issues I struggled to fix specifically pulling on the leash and leash reactivity. Because I wasn’t making much progress on my own, I took her to both private and group lessons. Our trainer, Dan, worked with us and achieved great results. He trained me as well as her, teaching me how to maintain control whenever she became reactive. Now, there is rarely a problem. When an issue does occur, it is usually because another dog is not under its owner's control. I could not be more pleased with the results and I highly recommend DPT. I also frequently use their dog daycare and dog boarding services. While my dog is always glad to see me at pickup, she clearly seems happy and well looked after during her stay.

We board our dogs here often and they always come back joyful and well taken care of. The staff is kind, communicative, and efficient. Would highly recommend having your dogs taken care of at Dan Perata Training and Boarding, truly one of a kind.

If you want your dog trained well in the long term, Dan will get it done. Dan uses true positive reinforcement training to give your dog the foundation they need for well adjusted behavior and obedience. In the process the owner learns the skills they need to make that training stick for a lifetime. We went through the puppy camp with our lab and 3 years later she’s still walking off leash and obeying all her commands with no issues on trails, in cities, airports, planes, even cross country skiing. Dan training gave us a great foundation to teach her other things as well, like being around loud noises (fireworks, thunder, etc), run obstacle courses, climb trees, turn lights of and on on command, and lots of other activities. It’s not an easy process, you have to commit completely, and the initial training camp is a foundation for you to build on rather than the final product. But Dan is committed to your dog’s success and will continue to help you beyond the camp.

Phenomenal. We had an adopted 2 year old dog who wasn’t housebroken, had severe separation anxiety, and overpowered our trained 5 year old dog when playing. We booked the training camp with Dan and even after week-two, his behavior was so significantly improved. Their method for working with the dogs (and moreso the humans) are very effective when followed. He’s now partially off-leash, listens to commands, and is our original dog’s pack mate and partner in crime. Everything we were hoping for. He loves to go back to visit Dan and so do we. We recommended Dan Perata Dog Training to all of our friends and sometimes to strangers. They’re good people, they treat the dogs well, and I’ve seen them work miracles with outright aggressive dogs who by the type out Lyle completed camp were sweet and friendly.

I brought my beagle puppy Bailey to Dan and company for basic training. We did a full month and a half of sessions with boarding included in the training plan. This was key to getting Bailey off on the right paw. We still practice our skills (we both learned from the experience) on a daily basis and look forward to utilizing the lifetime of brush-ups. The staff there is always ready to help out and I felt no 'pressure' to do anything but learn and exercise the skills presented. Their location allows for generally easy parking (rare in the City).
