I had my first meet with Kendall and Chandler to go over the basics and start Medical Alert- Service Dog Training with my GSP puppy, Risk! This will be my second Service Dog after my last one retired of old age, but since then I have moved towns and needed to find a new place for training! I have a Chronic Disease that I found out about later in life, meaning I never got my last Service Dog trained to help manage it. My disease is sort of a complex case and also rare at my age, so I tend to dread explaining it, also making it harder finding a trainer who could train Medical Alert tasks specifically for my issues. Right off the bat with reaching out over the phone, I felt understood and felt zero judgement for asking all my questions, even though I was super nervous and was stumbling over my words explaining it all😂 Kendall helped explain how we would train scent work for my specific disease and explained it in a way I could understand and not feel overwhelmed. I’m very much a dog person and have actually worked with dogs for a few years (both grooming and shelter work) so I love finding like minded people who are really passionate about what they do and make a change in the world everyday!💗 They made it clear they really cared about getting me the help I need while also showing me my dog will be in good hands. A lot of businesses just like to talk business as we know- Kendall and Chandler both felt human and made me feel not alone, even with my crazy, scary life at just 24 😅They lifted a huge weight off my shoulders trying to find the right team to help me out! After our first meet and working with my puppy a little bit I was very impressed with how well they had their routine down, they very much just know what they are talking about haha! Everything they teach to my puppy and I is all catered to his and my special needs. They understand that not all training is routine, as different dogs have different needs, you must go by what works best for the dog and not just what you always do! I’m also a bit of a nerd with dog science, behavior, and all that so it was lots of fun talking with them how training works, and even other activities I can engage my high drive breed in! I absolutely trust these two in what they are doing to lead us down the right path and make this daunting illness feel more manageable💕🥹 I’m more than excited to work with Kendall and Chandler and am so grateful for all their help and compassion!

Kendall and Chandler have been helping my family with our 2 pet dogs and more recently have been training us on how to raise our service dog puppy. They have been excellent instructors. We attend both private and group classes with them. Recently they offered and we attended an all day service dog training. They covered all the basics including how to fly with your service dog. We even started specific task work each of our service dogs need to learn to perform. They are patient, clear and kind teachers. They are training us as handlers as well as training our dogs . I'm so grateful to have their expertise to guide us.

Custom K-9 Service Dogs is the best decision I ever made for my dog… and honestly, for me. There isn’t a single time Rodeo and I go out in public where we’re not stopped and complimented on his perfect behavior. But it wasn’t always like this. Rodeo used to be a runner. If he wasn’t on a leash, he thought sprinting away being chased was the funniest game on earth. Now? He’s a perfect angel off-leash. Sometimes I catch him giving me this mischievous little look, like he wants to take off, but then he stops himself and stays right by my side. That change didn’t happen by accident. It’s all thanks to Kendall and Chandler. Let’s be real… they trained me even more than they trained Rodeo. Their patience, knowledge, and dedication completely transformed how I communicate with my dog. They’re not just great at what they do… they’re the dream team. I have been working with Custom k-9 for almost 3 years off and on, and I love what I have been learning about my dog! Yes it's dog training - but as an owner I have learned how to communicate with my dog for optimal training results. I'll be starting my second dog with Custom K-9 and I can't wait for the adventure to begin! It's so great to watch (in my case) a dog that needs some confidence building to flourish. Working with Custom K-9 has been a great experience, from one on one sessions to group classes. We've done all sorts of training including agility courses, public access and generic polite manners. **Update** I have now started my THIRD dog with Kendall and Chandler and Custom K-9 -- do I know *what* to do? Yes. They have trained the trainer well! Is it still beneficial to have check ins and attend group classes with Kendall and Chandler to learn how to "speak" with my newest dog? ABSOLUTELY! This last year, we worked on aggressive behavior to strangers, specifically men. My favorites have been learning on how to reduce reactivity by appropriately exposing Penny to scenarios and learning *when* to reward for the desired behavior (not reacting), and the "human" sessions where they taught us how to train more efficiently and to understand HOW our dogs are learning commands/desired behaviors. As always, I'm looking forward to whatever Custom K-9 offers next in their ever-evolving repertoire of dog training!
