For a long time I mourned 'losing the easiest rescue dog in the world’ to the pandemic, some dog attacks, and unexpected close proximity pyrotechnics. Remy went from walking right by dogs like it was nothing to incessantly barking at them from across the street and lunging at those nearby; hardly noticing fireworks to shaking uncontrollably during them and storms; greeting people pleasantly at the door to nipping at some guests' feet; fair indifference to my leaving the house to inconsolable whining at the sight of me grabbing a shoe, persisting for 40 minutes after my departure. I was at a true loss for how to help my guy and hated seeing him struggle so much on the daily. Erika provided me with so many tools, enrichment activities, information, and reframed perspectives. She allowed me to meet Remy where he was newly at, to improve his quality of life, and to let go of what was/what I believed needed to be. I learned how to work with Remy, modify behaviors, advocate for and him, and appreciate him for the amazing dog that he is (as all dogs are). Thanks to what we learned with Cooperation Canine, Remy is less anxious and 'happier.' He still struggles with things here and there, but it's absolutely manageable—it doesn't rock his world and send him into high anxiety and aggression. We know what to expect, and we know how to handle it in a way that feels good for both of us. Regardless of your dog’s history, behavior problems or lack thereof, you and your pup will be so much better off with some sessions at Cooperation Canine. It can be tough take the leap to work with a trainer (let alone decide on one) given the time and financial commitment, but this place is truly worth it.

After having the pleasure of visiting Erika in her amazing clinic last week we realized she has been in our lives for 7 yrs. Our journey began approx 7 yrs ago when I brought home a new pup to my home with 2 male dogs. Finn was having some behavior issues identified as anxiety and fear. I described him as he was going to hurt you before you could hurt him. He was my soul mate dog. We worked for 7 yrs to give him his best life and keep my other 2 Chace and Frost safe. His relationship with Frost grew into bonded pair. The spring of 2024 Finn anxiety and unpredictable behavior increased. With the ongoing help of Dr Tracy Carreiro and Erika we attempted med changes without relief for him. Jan 2, 2025 I laid my boy to rest. Erika and Tracy were beyond supportive through this process. BE is controversial. Others don't understand the difficulty. My girl Frost was very sad for weeks, then she blossomed into a dog I never knew. Relaxed and peaceful. She clearly was stressed with Finns energy. I decided to adopt her a friend, Bentley joined us Jan 31. It was an adjustment for them both and myself. After yrs for Frost and I in edge with Finn not sure when behaviors may happen it took us time to relax and enjoy this new journey. This is what brought us back to Erika. I want to further strengthen Frost and Bentley relationship. Using our past teachings and new advice I'm happy to report both are doing so well. Thank you Erika, Tracey, and Sam. Working with Erika was transformational for me and my dog, Otis. When he first came home, I realized he was reactive and had an extreme fear of the vet. I felt incredibly overwhelmed and did not know what to do to help him. Luckily, resources at the Potter League and the internet led me to Erika. She taught me skills that strengthened my bond with Otis. I also learned how to manage his on-leash reactivity. Working with her gave me so much more confidence in myself as an individual and as a Otis' guardian. I've learned how to manage Otis' fear of the vet, utilize medication and advocate for him. I can now easily complete handling tasks like nail trims and baths, which were once a struggle. His on-lash reactivity has improved and I learned he loves most dogs—he just wants to meet them immediately! What I learned from Erika was invaluable.
