Ernie definitely learned our trainer, Maggie’s, voice - to the point that he would be an A student during the calls. Maggie provided so much information and the library of documents is vast. Can I see my dog while they're at the board and train?
You’re always welcome to see your dog, but we strongly recommend waiting until the program is complete. Dogs are creatures of habit, and seeing you mid-training can make them sad when you leave again. That may disrupt the new routines we’re building and set progress back a few days. Don’t worry, you won’t feel out of the loop! You’ll get regular updates, pictures, videos, and messages from your trainer every day!

Will my dog be placed in a kennel during a board and train session?
Not here! Our trainers only work with 2-3 dogs at a time in their home, so your dog gets TONS of training, and gets to spend time as they usually would in your home; resting, playing, cuddling, etc!

Will my dog think I abandoned them if I do a board and train program?
It’s totally normal to worry about this but rest assured, your dog won’t feel abandoned. They may miss you a bit the first day or two, but dogs are incredibly adaptable, especially when they’re busy learning, playing, and bonding with their trainer. Most owners find the separation is actually harder on them than on their dog! And when it’s time to reunite? Dogs are always thrilled to see their people and love showing off everything they’ve learned.

We rescued him at 4 months old and is the sweetest dog, snuggly and adorable, plays so well with other dogs, but was extremely prey-driven and pulling. We were able to do some basic training ourselves with him but as he got bigger and stronger, walks honestly became extremely frustrating. He was so excited around people and kids he would jump up all the time. He was regressing in his crate barking early in the morning. At 9 months old we had looked into professional training but were hesitant as we didn’t want him to lose any of his sweet temperament. My coworker had rave reviews about Command Canine. We ended up doing board and train for 3 weeks with Meredith and could not be happier with the results. We were originally hesitant as 3 weeks felt like so long away from him, but it was truly the most beneficial experience for our relationship with him. 3 weeks in the grand scheme of things is absolutely worth it for such significant improvement in listening, not pulling, and not being reactive. Meredith is amazing. She’s communicative and she has such a calm tone and demeanor while being clear and direct. And she’s a perfectionist when it comes to training! She will really get your dog to be the best they can be. She was the BEST match for our pup! She would send us updates frequently so we could see all his progress. She checks in regularly and it’s so nice to be able to ask questions and get tips even after his time boarding. I honestly cannot recommend Command Canine enough. Thank you so much for making sure our sweet boy is also a well behaved excellent listener!

My husband, Steve, and I recently used Command Canine to help train our newly-rescued dog, Gracie Jane. We did the 8-week video course and worked with trainer, Maggie Gruner. We adopted Gracie Jane from a local rescue who had, thankfully, gotten her from a rural “kill” shelter. Although, she was a sweetheart, she had issues with timidity, fear, and destructive behavior. During our first video session with Maggie, Gracie Jane hid in the corner of the room. Maggie recommended moving things outside for the next class and it made a world of difference. The easy-to-follow and simple training techniques that Maggie showed Steve and me, helped Gracie Jane become more comfortable with us and less fearful of her surroundings. Maggie is not only very knowledgeable about training dogs, but you can tell she absolutely adores them. We all felt very comfortable with her (and her co-trainer dog, RD), and while we were initially worried that the video training might not be as effective and in-person training, that turned out to not be the case at all. We absolutely recommend Command Canine and Maggie if you have a new dog like Gracie Jane or want to teach your old dog new tricks.

She still has the same happy, crazy personality AND we have the tools to help her be a better behaved member of the family.
