COAST DOGS Training By Dawn Bennett

I met Dawn at the Humane Society Of Sarasota , she was smiling , friendly and approachable ! I love learning about dog behavior . I was working with my " project dog .. Fred " I needed help ! He was a leash grabbing super star , and loved to nip my calf . He was my biggest challenge , because of Dawn and her training skills we together saved Fred ! She showed me how to get him out of the kennel ( we learned the " go find it " game , using a clicker ). It gave me time to build trust , and a relationship with him without stressing him ( see normally getting him out of his kennel he would immediately start leash grabbing and nipping ). Many others tried ..many many techniques , from yelling , to using air noise ... It only heightened his arousal and desensitized him . I soon learned his only chance was with the help of Dawn. She showed me the touch game , the focus game, " look at me " , place , recall , and to catch him before his outburst of leash grabbing , and if my timing was off and he was in went crazy ! ) his collar , dropped his leash and waited ... Seemed like forever ! But he calmed down and off we went . See you could not walk him without him going crazy on that leash ... But I did !! Dawn has also helped me with my dog Jack , ever since he was a puppy ! He is now 4 years old and is a well balanced well trained dog thanks to Dawn ! She is always giving me advice , and helping me no matter what !! Dawn is a balanced trainner with all of the skill set you can ask for ! I highly recommend Dawn. !! if you have a puppy , a dog with issues , or just want a well trained dog Dawn is the one !!

Our Bichon Frise puppy, Augie Doggie, was only 3 1/2 months old, but his “nipping” was excessive. We’ve had two other Bichons and never experienced this problem. We were getting nervous because the holidays were coming up, and our visitors would include two grandchildren under 6, and their 10 month old puppy. We needed Augie to be able to socialize! We contacted Dawn after a recommendation. She gave us some tips for “ nipping” over the phone, and we decided on private lessons because our pup still needed to complete his vaccination series. Dawn worked wonders with Augie, demonstrating techniques for training and rewarding. After 6 weeks of lessons, our Augie responds to commands, loves his “ loose leash” walks, is able to meet and greet other dogs, and was a perfect host to our visiting grandchildren and their puppy! Many of our neighbors have commented about how well behaved he is. It was all thanks to Dawn Bennett and we highly recommend her services.
