CMC Dog Training

We had our chihuahua/beagle mix do both the on leash and off leash training at CMC and it made a world of a difference. He went from a wildly codependent rescue to a confident dog, and now with his off leash training he listens perfectly and we have complete control over him when walking. He loves CMC, we always board him here when we travel and he is never sad to see us go, he loves auntie Glenna and auntie Amy! Highly recommend training and boarding your dog here and working with this team. Most importantly, training Hudley didn't change or ruin his personality as some people may think - in fact, he's even MORE fun because he is confident in how to obey. He doesn't get in trouble, because he's trained, and therefore he's extra enthusiastic!

We have used CMC for on leash training for our first Golden retriever, Ranger, who thrived with the training and loved to show how smart he was with everything he learned. After 3 weeks, he was so wonderful we could take him anywhere! Then we got our second Golden Retriever, Buddy. We have had dogs our whole life, but Buddy was at a entirely different intensity level. He would not listen. In fact I’m not even sure he could hear us when he would just over/stimulated and so worked up. This was frequent and when he was in that stage, he was was completely uncontrollable. I tore something in my wrist holding on to his leash and my husband hurt his shoulder. He went to CMC for on leash training again with Glenna (like Ranger did,) - Glenna, Susan, & Amy are all amazing there. Buddy learned all of his commands and we were hopeful. We tried to follow the program Glenna shared with us. However, when we got home with Buddy, he and our 4lb. Morkie still were not getting along. It was scary bc he could have easily hurt her by accident. We couldn’t keep him on leash all the time or behind a baby gate. My husband and I are in our 70’s and had almost made the heartbreaking decision that we were not able to manage Buddy. We hated keeping him contained or on a leash all the time. We wanted him to have the life he deserved and to be happy. We are dog people and have always had dogs and loved each of them. Really out of desperation and embarrassment because we had failed Buddy, we called Glenna again in tears. We asked if we could Board Buddy at CMC while we went on vacation RVing in the Rockies. We were afraid we would be asked to leave the RV campground bc of his constant barking and poor behavior. Glenna told us about “off leash” training and suggested that if we were going to board him anyway, we strongly consider off leash training. She said it had kept numerous dogs united happily with their families. We decided to try it, since we were out of options. We will forever be grateful that Glenna suggested it and explained it. We will not have any more hurt wrists or shoulders. We won’t be having to not invite anyone over. Now, Buddy can find heel, heel at your pace, sit without being told when you stop walking. He can sit, go down, do a sit-stay and a down-stay.. He does a “watch me” without blinking. Thank Goodness for his “Leave it!” His “come” brings him running and he sits right in front of us facing us and looking at our face for direction. He can go to his “place” and “kennel up.” All of this with no leash!!! He loves it and now we do too. You know what is even better than all of this amazing progress? Glenna LOVES Buddy and he LOVES her. When we pull up to CMC to participate in a free Saturday class for their program graduates, he gets so excited he has to really work to not bolt for Glenna. We now have somewhere that if we ever need to board him, we know he will be happy and well loved. Do yourself and your pup a favor, go see CMC!
