Clever Canine Dog Training

Normally I wouldn’t take the time to write a bad review for a company that I loved so much at the start, but I’ve gotten to the point now where I will never go back again. First I’ll start by saying my dog has gotten sick 2 times since I’ve been taking her to daycare there 1-2 times per week. I understand that there are different strains and vaccines don’t protect dogs from everything so this is excusable. I’ll add that my situation with daycare hours is a little different. I work the afternoon shift and have to pick her up at 1130pm. They have insisted over and over to me that this is never a problem since they always have someone there 24/7 (like they claim on their website loud and clear). Before purchasing the daycare package, I was up front with them about my hours and each member of the staff said the same thing, a late pick up is no problem whatsoever as long as you let them know when the dog is dropped off. So everything was going great until one night I show up to pick her up, and the side “pack and play” door that you usually walk in and ring the bell was locked. I knocked, rang the doorbell, and tried getting a hold of anyone I could for an hour before I decided to go home. When I picked my dog up the next morning (obviously mad about the situation) the staff seemed “whatever” about it when I fully expected them to be apologetic. I swore I would never go back but my dog loved it so much that I decided to give them another chance. When I arrived the next time, the manager was very apologetic and said that they were short staffed that night and assured me it would never happen again. After that, there were not any problems again until last night. I went to pick up my dog at the “pack and play” side door like usual on Wednesday evening after work. It was unlocked so I went in and rang the bell. It was weird this time because it was completely dark when usually there’s a light on and someone comes to the front right away. I waited and waited, called out to see if anyone was there, and even went back outside to look at the phone number written on the after hours white board and called that too which went strait to voicemail. When I realized that NOBODY WAS THERE and the DOOR WAS UNLOCKED, I decided to walk further in through the gate and see if I could find anyone. I called out and still no one answered, I checked all the areas and could not find my dog. I could hear her bark when I called her name, so all I wanted to do was find my dog so I could grab her and go home and never go back to that place again. I could not believe that no one was there and the door was unlocked and open for literally anyone to come in. I trusted these people with my dog and I was so angry. I finally walk through one last time and find my dog through a couple more gates in a small cage up on a shelf in the very back all by herself. I was so upset to see her in that situation. Anyway, it is now the next day and I still have my dog safe at home with me. But has anyone from clever canine contacted me yet.....NOPE?! Did anyone even realize my dog wasn’t there this morning?! To me that is the worst part. I know this was a lengthy review, but I wanted to make sure people knew what was going on there. I definitely will never take my dog back there ever again.

I have mixed feelings! I take my 6 month old dog to the training classes here and have loved the people! I decided to try out boarding as I was going out of state for 5 days. This is the first time I have boarded/left my dog with strangers so I was having anxiety like most owners do. I dropped off my dog Tuesday at noon and was told I would receive nightly updates except for the holiday which seemed understandable. Out of the 5 days he was there, I recieved no updates. Turns out the office staff was closing down for the holiday for 4 days which I was not aware of. Being across the country not knowing if my dog was okay was extremely hard and was not relaxing. I’m in a sticky situation cause I like this place and upon pickup on Saturday night the guys helping me said my dog did great and will be missed. No doubt in my mind that my dog was in danger but it would have been nice to get an update to ease my mind throughout the 5 days he was there. Maybe moving forward the staff should put a plan in place to give Owners updates when the office staff is not able to?
