I have taken several classes over the years with Meredith and her staff. Whether it's socializing a puppy, de-escalating behavior with a reactive dog or learning a sports activity with a high energy dog, every class has been a joy as I build a better relationship with my dogs. I appreciate that none of the trainers use harsh techniques, nor reward inherent behavior. Instead, a strong relationship is built with mutual respect. Most recently, I started Hound on the Town with my puppy. I was apprehensive since he has not been socialized outside of a classroom setting due to the pandemic. But by the end of the first class he was more relaxed and enjoying the stimulation instead of being overwhelmed by the distractions. We adopted our first rescue 2 years ago from a county shelter and unwittingly entered the world of dog reactivity. As new dog owners, we felt trapped and helpless. We found Canine PhD and Meredith and she turned it all around. Meredith was patient, kind, knowledgeable, flexible, and above all else, loved our dog. She provided both excellent dog training and reassurance to us as owners of a difficult dog. We spent about a year doing private lessons, both at the facility and our home, and then we moved on to the reactive dog classes. To my knowlege, it is the only class of its kind in the city. Our rescue went from aggressive towards other dogs to mild indifference and even a few positive interactions. We became confident dog owners with Meredith's guidance. After our dog died suddenly from medical issues, Meredith was there for us once again. She offered her services in matching us with another rescue whenever we were ready. When we decided on a dog rescue organization, she looked at all the dogs and recommended good matches for us. That would have been enough, but she then contacted the manager of the shelter to get a better sense of a good match for us, and even offered to meet us at the shelter on our adoption day to help us take the right dog home. We ended up with a wonderful deaf dog, and of course, we are trusting his training to the staff at Canine PhD.

We adopted our dog, Ella, at 3 months of age. She is a Shepherd/Weimaraner. Long story short she is a reactive dog. She is now 18 months old. After working with other trainers for the past 10 months, we finally made our way to Canine PhD and met Meredith. She is an incredible trainer, and a kind and caring person. She has helped Ella progress and overcome many of her issues, and she has helped me to better understand Ella. In 6 weeks, we went from a dog that couldn’t tolerate any stranger in the house, to one who can sit next to me while I converse with someone in my home. We went from lunging and pulling walks to enjoyable and controlled ones. Meredith is an expert at understanding the mind of a dog, their body language and their style of communication. She is incredibly dedicated to her clients and loves all the dogs she meets. With Meredith’s help and guidance, and dedicating time to the training program, a difficult dog can get better. I highly recommend Meredith and her staff!
