One of Canine Companion Consulting’s specialties is Separation Anxiety. Separation Anxiety is a very common behavioral concern in dogs. Studies vary, but indicate that up to 20% of all dogs have separation anxiety on some level and account for up to 40% of dogs referred to trainers or behaviorists. Separation anxiety can manifest itself in many ways. Symptoms of separation anxiety can be but is not limited to inappropriate elimination, destroying things within the household, barking, whining, panting and not being able to settle when the pet parent is not present. Some dogs are attached to a particular person and some dogs just need someone or another animal present. Not only can it be extremely stressful for the dog, but also for the pet parents.

Program details
Veterinary care and grooming can be stressful for the dog, pet parent, and pet professionals. Reducing stress and anxiety results in a more productive practice and increased likelihood pet parents will participate in needed preventative and routine care. The Hospital or Salon will become a safer, more productive, and more comfortable environment for all. We have designed a Cooperative Care Program called Happy Handling that can be offered to canines of all ages, either as a group class or privately, depending on the client. We collaborate with the pet parent and pet professional to find out what will work best for each canine companion. We will consult with doctors and groomers to find out what they recommend and are striving for. We work as a team to target the Happy Handling every dog deserves.

Do you work with aggressive, fearful or anxious dogs?
Yes, we work with dogs of all ages and breeds with separation anxiety, general anxiety, aggression, and fear. We have worked with dogs that are uncomfortable around other dogs, humans and objects in their environment.

How do I get started working with you?
You can schedule an appointment on our web site or call us. When we meet with you for the very first time we will ask you about the behaviors you are concerned about. We will document our findings in a Behavior Report that we will email to you. We will give you lots of information and recommendations based on your life style and your canine companion(s). From there we will tailor a training plan to meet your needs. We are available between appointments to answer your questions.

Beth and Wayne are fantastic!!! I am a veterinarian who adopted two anxious rescue dogs. I’ve worked with Canine Companion Consulting in private lessons and also have done their group classes (canine basics and agility for fun). I definitely plan to sign up for more! They are amazing force-free trainers who have really helped my dogs in building resilience. They are really good at noticing small details to help with our success. I can’t thank them enough for helping our furbabies be comfortable in their lives with us ❤️

We have been dog owners for decades and never had one on one training for our dogs until working with Canine Companion Consulting. Since adopting a very timid adult puppy mill rescue dog, and making very slow progress with him adjusting to a life of freedom, we decided to seek professional help. We have been very pleased with our little Maltese's progress and wish we had called Beth and Wayne sooner!. In just 3 short weeks (3 visits) our little timid Maltese is no longer barking at my husband and comes up to sniff him. He used to growl at him. He is going outside for potty time without having to be carried out the door. He is also walking past my husband and so will go outside with him now! He is playing more with his doggie brother and is almost able to go up a full flight of stairs! His new confidence is wonderful to see! We are excited for Kylos future and ours in learning how to read our dogs needs and respond appropriately.
Great experience. Class was just the right size so all dogs got equal time. Quiet, non coercion methods used so dogs learned with positive reinforcement not force. All aspects were well explained. Will register for other classes
