Camp K9 Training

I remember our first conversation with Andres, I told him I didn’t think our rescue dog was smart. I was so wrong! After one training we saw a huge difference, and in the end our dog turned out amazing! She is really incredible, a thanks to the training we got for her and us! We were diligent with our “homework”, and it really paid off. Our girl can run off leash, and comes back every time I call her. We can walk right by other people, rabbits, squirrels, and dogs and she remains next to me. No pulling on leash, comes back off leash. She is able to enjoy running on the beach, through the woods, and with other dogs. She trusts us and we trust her. She asks permission to cross a threshold, to get on the bed with us, to jump out of the car. I could go on and on. Best of all she is our best friend and absolutely loves our little people. Andres really knows and understands dogs. He explains things in a way that makes sense. Not just, do this, but do this because this is what the dogs understands. He is extremely responsive to questions outside the training time, and while you are there, he wants to be sure that you thoroughly understand. Thanks Andres! Your training was invaluable!

Gosh where do I begin! I have been a dog lover my whole life, rescuing animals since I was 5 years old. I have raised big dogs, small dogs, "passive" breeds, "aggressive" breeds, and everything in between. I never had a dog with behavioral issues. All my dogs have been friendly, calm, well-behaved, and non-reactive. Then enter...LUCIUS, a 7 week old Rottweiler puppy, rescued from a puppy mill. My second Rottweiler, I was so excited. I believed Lucius would be just as sweet, calm, and well rounded as my last rottie. #NOPE. By one year old, Lucius was showing signs of aggression, fear, anxiety, reactivity, and traits of a "high strung" dog. He was so sweet and loving INSIDE the home. But outside the home, frightening and unpredictable. He was lunging at children, aggressive towards other dogs, and going after any stranger within 20 feet. He was volatile and scary at the vet. He had to be sedated and muzzled, and the vet techs were terrified of him. I was BAFFLED. He had never been ABUSED, or experienced violence or trauma at my hands. He got regular exercise, we had boundaries established.... How was this happening? What did I miss? In a short amount of time, we were BLACK LISTED from our vet, and even my parents house. After aggressively going after my mother and coming within inches of her face several times, I knew something was VERY WRONG. Friends and relatives started asking me "Are you going to put him down? You know that's the right thing to do, right?" My worst fears had come true. I was THAT dog owner...and Lucius was THAT dog...he was a ticking time bomb. The judgment, and the pity directed at us....the feeling of failure that overwhelmed me....I was heart broken and devastated. I went in desperate search of someone to HELP. A mutual friend referred me to Andres and Camp K9 Training. I immediately liked Andres, because he was willing to spend an hour on the phone with me, answering all my questions, explaining the training program, setting expectations for results, and attentively listening to my issues with Lucius...even before I ever signed up for classes. He showed NO FEAR taking me and Lucius on as clients, despite all my strong warnings to him. I chose private lessons, because I knew how important it was for me to understand WHY Lucius was behaving the way he was, to be PRESENT for his evolution, and be the leader that helped him rehabilitate. We saw changes and results from the FIRST LESSON. Andres was able to quickly and calmly diagnose the problem, come up with a solution, and start implementing our new way of life. I had no idea what I was doing wrong, but I was indeed, part of the problem. I assured Andres, I was willing to put in the work and time required. I committed to practicing with Lucius a minimum of one hour every day. I couldn't fail him again, I wasn't going to let that happen. Fast forward to the GOOD STUFF. Lucius and I are no longer black listed from our vet. We are welcome, and WITHOUT the heavy sedatives. The female vet techs are brave enough to be in the room with him now, and one of them even got KISSES on the last visit. INSERT HEART EMOJIS HERE. Lucius no longer reacts to other dogs. He no longer lunges and snarls at strangers. My own parents have even APOLOGIZED for ever suggesting I needed to put him down, and are willing to begin building trust with him again. They are AMAZED at the turnaround in just 6 short weeks. And so am I. Lucius still has some issues, yes. But each day we practice our new core training principles, he gains more confidence, and seems that much calmer and happier. He is a different dog today, there is no denying that. I couldn't be more thrilled with the guidance and results we got from Camp K9 Training. If you have an aggressive, unpredictable, or "red line" dog, and you don't know WHERE to turn....CALL ANDRES.
