I recently adopted a shelter dog. He was about 1 year old German Shepherd mix. He probably was never inside a house. I wanted a dog for protection, and to become a member of my family. I have medical condition, and take blood thinners. My dog needed to be a non jumper and cat friendly (I have 5 rescue cats). I decided to bring Bear, my rescue boy to By My Side Canine, after talking with the Owner Teresa Cameron, to give him his best chance of fitting in with our family. Teresa listened to all of my needs and tailored her foundations program, to meet my needs. Bear couldn't even get into a vehicle or walk on hardwood floors without putting on the brakes. He was a scared boy. I needed to get his final vaccine for him. I couldn't get him into the car. Teresa came to my house and took both my dog, and I to the vet and he was vaccinated effortlessly. She was already working her magic on Bear, before even starting the training. Bear then stayed with her for a full week, for the foundations program. I got updates and videos, and was so thrilled with his progress. You could tell he was building confidence, eager to please and learning a lot. He came back to me with confidence, manners, no jumping and getting in and out of the SUV like a champ. She gave us the tools to slowly introduce our cats successfully. I can walk my dog, without any pulling. He obeys effortlessly. She not only trained him, but trained both my husband and I and explained everything to us so that we could continue his progress at home. I would HIGHLY recommend By My Side Canine. Four years ago my husband and I added 2 Cavapoochon male puppies from the same litter to our household. They were sweet dogs, but we could not take them anywhere because of aggressive behavior toward other dogs. They jumped up on me and made bruises on my arms from pawing at me to pet them. I could not walk them without them dragging me down the street and because they barked and acted very aggressively toward other dogs. We felt we had made a big mistake in bringing them to our home. After talking with Theresa Cameron of By My Side Canine, we began to have hope that these behaviors could be changed. We were amazed to see them calmly walking at her side rather than pulling her down the trail as they had done with me. They no longer climb on the furniture, but stay in place on their cots. Theresa worked with them for 5 days and returned them to us on day 6. On day 6 she spent several hours with us and the dogs teaching us the procedures and vocabulary to continue the process that she started. She continues to be a resource for us and will observe our progress in a week or two for follow up. We are in awe of her knowledge of dogs and her ability to teach us to communicate with our dogs.
