We can't say enough good things about Sam at Blackhawk K9! Our dog Ozzy had some serious behavior issues - climbing our fence, darting out the front door, and running off every chance he got. It was genuinely stressful, especially living on a fenced-in acre where we could never fully trust him to be outside safely. We enrolled Ozzy in Sam's 4-week board and train program, and the transformation has been amazing. She covered all the essential good-dog behaviors, and Ozzy came home a completely different boy. He's now well-behaved, listens well, and genuinely just wants to hang out with us instead of looking for the next escape route. We no longer worry about him getting hit by a car or taking off - we can finally let him enjoy the yard without constant anxiety. Sam was incredibly knowledgeable throughout the whole process, and it's clear she really knows how to work with dogs and communicate that knowledge to owners too. This was 100% worth the investment. Knowing Ozzy will carry these good behaviors for years to come gives us so much peace of mind. We're so grateful for Sam and everything she did for our boy. Working with Blackhawk K-9 has been such an amazing experience. I cannot thank them enough for all the work they’ve put in and the patience and support they’ve giving me throughout our training process. I had dealt with another training company beforehand and switched to BK-9 when I started to notice me and my pup were just backtracking. Eliza has been nothing below amazing. They walked me through everything, how things should be done, what should not be done, and what we needed to work on to get through our next steps. They’ve met me where I’m at (physically and confidence wise) and have been so helpful throughout this journey. I can’t thank them enough for their guidance and willingness with not only my pup but me as well. They even provide at home training videos so you can learn how to handle your pup when you take them home from board and train! If I stand on anything, it’s that they are some amazing people, they know their stuff, and you will be so thankful you choose them as your trainers.

How do I express my gratitude for the person who changed my life? I feel like that sounds dramatic, but it is the truth. I am a sucker for a fuzzy face who needs a home, so I brought a third dog home from the shelter. He was super sweet, but had absolute NO manners. That is something I may have been able to work with, but I also had a seven year old dog at home who is the definition of cranky and hard-headed. My older dog was a fear-biter who was convinced he was in charge of my house. He had previously attempted to bite several people, and actually did manage to bite a friend of mine. He was not going to welcome another dog into the house, so for the next week and a half, my house became pure and total chaos. Then came Sam. I found her online, and while I was nervous, and hesitant to spend as much money as this was going to cost, I knew I had to do it. And I am so thankful. My newer dog did the four week board and train program. He came home a completely different dog. He is still the fun-loving mischevious puppy I sent her, but he listens, he knows his commands, and he is a dream to walk on a leash. He has become my new running buddy. My older dog needed the extensive behavior modification program, and he spent eight weeks with Sam. Don't get me wrong, he can still be a cranky dude, but now he recognizes that he does not rule the house. And while I may have to give him commands a few times before he grudginly listens, he does listen to me now! I can walk all three of my dogs on leashes together, and I can sit on the couch with all three of them now. There might be a few grumbles from the old guy, but he is tolerant of the puppy now. Walking him was such a nightmare, I had stopped doing it because every person he saw, he was trying to break free from his harness and go after them. Now, he walks past other people and does not react at all. I don't know how Sam does what she does, but I will forever swear she is the Dog Whisperer/Miracle Worker I needed. My goal was be able to have my dogs live under one roof with the understanding they would likely always need to be separated. Now, I am typing this with all three of them curled up on the couch with me. And my third dog, who I always described as super well-behaved, who I did not send to her, has become the one who gives me the most behavior problems!

We took our dog (gsd puppy) to Blackhawk for board and train. Sam immediately clocked all of the things that we had been struggling with. We loved getting to be involved in the training as Sam had us do multiple sessions before we took our dog home. She came home with her personality intact and new learned behaviors. It was some of the best money we have ever spent. Additionally, we have taken our dog back for boarding and it was fuss free and great for the pup. So happy we went with Sam and Blackhawk. Whenever we are struggling, Sam coaches us and gives us so much relief. Our life and relationship with the dog is so much better because of Sam's help.
